Unboxing & Design
The SwitchBot K10+ Pro maintains the compact design of its predecessor, with a diameter of just 24.8 cm and a height of 9.2 cm. This small form factor is one of its key selling points, allowing it to clean under furniture and in tight spaces that larger robot vacuums might struggle to reach.
The vacuum features a white colour scheme with a partially frosted, partially smooth texture. The build quality appears solid, with the main unit constructed from ABS plastic. The design is minimalist and unobtrusive, which should help it blend into most home environments.
On the top of the unit, you’ll find simple controls for cleaning and returning to the charging station. The underside houses the main brush roller, side brush, and wheels. The dust bin is easily accessible for manual emptying when needed.
The auto-empty station is relatively compact compared to some competitors, which is a plus for those with limited space. It houses a 4L dust bag and serves as the charging dock for the robot.
Set Up with SwitchBot App
I had a few issues with the setup, but I believe this was due to the SwitchBot K10+ Pro being available yet and the specific model was not available to select in the app.
For me I had to select the older model, place it into pairing mode, and wait for it to scan. As I had selected a different model, it did not identify the robot but I could connect to the open SSID of the robot and from there the app connected without problems.
It only took me a couple of minutes to set up the robot and I am confident that once the correct model number is available within the app, it will be easy and straightforward to set up.
SwitchBot App Settings
The SwitchBot app offers a range of controls and customisation options:
- Virtual walls and no-go zones
- Scheduled cleaning
- Room selection for targeted cleaning
- Suction power adjustment
- Multiple map management
- Carpet detection settings
- Do Not Disturb mode
Smart Home Automation / Matter / Home Assistant
The marketing literature states that this robot vacuum is compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri Shortcuts, and IFTTT.
This is also compatible with Matter when paired with either the SwitchBot Hub 2 or the Switchbot Hub Mini.
At first it was a little confusing to set this up as there is no option within the robot to pair it to a hub. I assume this is because it connects to WiFi and it can work perfectly well without being paired to a hub.
Getting it to work with Matter is similar to the SwitchBot Universal Remote and other Matter-compatible SwitchBot devices. You need to go into the hub settings and then manually add the robot vacuum as one of the secondary devices within the Matter setup screen.
Adding the K10+ Pro to Home Assistant doesn’t appear to do a great deal. It lists several connected devices under SwitchBot Hub 2, but none of these relate to the robot’s functions. I suspect this will change once the K10+ Pro is commercially available and the firmware is updated.
As for the automations within the SwitchBot app, I was unable to set any of these up. The app doesn’t appear to support the K10+ Pro yet. If you select one of the predefined routines, it has options for the other vacuums, and I expect the K10+ Pro will be added immediately after launch.
Mapping
One of the significant upgrades in the K10+ Pro is its advanced navigation system. It uses LiDAR SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology combined with a Position Sensitive Detector (PSD) for improved edge and corner detection.
The 360-degree omnidirectional spatial navigation radar allows the robot to create accurate maps of your home. The mapping process is relatively quick and produces detailed floor plans that can be customised within the app. You can define rooms, set no-go zones, and select specific areas for cleaning.
The PSD sensor enhances the robot’s ability to detect edges and corners accurately, which is crucial for its improved corner-cleaning performance. This technology, combined with the compact size, allows the K10+ Pro to clean closer to walls and furniture than many larger robots.
The cliff sensor helps prevent the vacuum from falling down stairs or off raised surfaces, adding an extra layer of safety during operation.
I have generally been happy with the mapping performance of all robot vacuums that feature LiDAR. Admittedly, I don’t pay close attention to how well the robot navigates as it works on schedule, but I have found that this robot does appear to get stuck slightly less than my other robots.
Cleaning Performance
The SwitchBot K10+ Pro boasts several improvements in cleaning performance over its predecessor:
Suction Power: With a maximum suction power of 3000Pa, the K10+ Pro offers strong cleaning capabilities. This is a significant upgrade from the K10+’s 2500Pa and puts it on par with many full-sized robot vacuums.
- Four-Stage Cleaning: The K10+ Pro employs a unique four-stage cleaning process:
- Consolidation: The side brush gathers dust and debris.
- Raising: The main brush lifts dirt from floors and carpets.
- Vacuuming: The powerful suction removes the airborne particles.
- Collection: Debris is stored in the dust bin.
Brush Design: The K10+ Pro features a rubber brush that is designed to be tangle-free, making it easier to maintain and more effective at picking up hair.
Edge Cleaning: The improved edge brush speed of 200 rpm, combined with the PSD sensor, allows for more efficient cleaning along walls and in corners.
Carpet Detection: The vacuum can detect carpets and automatically increase suction power for deeper cleaning.
In practice, the K10+ Pro performs well on both hard floors and carpets. Its compact size allows it to reach areas that larger vacuums might miss, such as under low furniture or between chair legs. The strong suction power is particularly noticeable on carpets, where it can effectively lift embedded dirt and pet hair. My partner has long hair, and she sheds constantly, and this inevitably clogs up all my vacuum cleaners. I have only used this vacuum for a couple of weeks, but so far, it has done better than average for avoiding tangled-up hair.
The edge cleaning performance is notably good, thanks to the combination of the side brush and the robot’s ability to get close to walls. However, like most robot vacuums, it may still struggle with deep corners.
One potential drawback is the relatively small onboard dust bin (200 ml). However, this is mitigated by the auto-empty station, which allows the robot to operate for extended periods without manual intervention.
Mopping Functionality
It’s worth noting that while the K10+ Pro can accommodate wet wipes for light mopping, it doesn’t have a dedicated water tank or advanced mopping features. The mopping functionality is basic and best suited for light dust removal rather than tackling stubborn stains or heavily soiled floors.
I am personally not a fan of this style of mop (on any robot vacuum), and I never remember setting it up properly before the robot started cleaning.
Noise Levels
SwitchBot has made efforts to reduce the noise levels of the K10+ Pro, particularly in its Quiet mode. The vacuum operates at just 45dB in this mode, which is indeed quieter than many libraries. This makes it suitable for running cleaning cycles at night or when you’re working from home.
The noise levels increase with higher suction settings:
- Quiet mode: <48 dB
- Standard mode: <54 dB
- Strong mode: <57 dB
- Max mode: <59 dB
Even at its highest setting, the K10+ Pro remains relatively quiet compared to many traditional vacuum cleaners.
Auto-Empty Dustbin and Home Base
The auto-empty station is a key feature of the K10+ Pro system. By itself, the K10+ Pro has a dustbin capacity of just 200ml, which is less than half of most competing models.
Despite the robot’s compact size, the station houses a large 4L dust bag which is the largest capacity auto-empty station I have used for a robot vacuum. This capacity allows for up to 90 days of use before the bag needs to be replaced, significantly reducing the frequency of maintenance.
The station uses strong suction (30 kPa) to empty the robot’s dust bin efficiently. While the emptying process is louder than the robot’s normal operation, it’s brief and can be scheduled to occur at convenient times using the app’s Do Not Disturb mode.
The station’s design is relatively compact, measuring 261 × 210 × 323 mm. This smaller footprint compared to some competitors’ auto-empty stations is an advantage for homes where space is at a premium.
Battery Life
The K10+ Pro has a 3200 mAh battery, and this is rated for:
- 150mins in Quiet Mode
- 120mins in Standard Mode
- 90mins in Strong Mode
- 60mins in Max Mode
My house is a 4-bed semi, and I would regard my downstairs as larger than average, and the robot has no problems completing a full clean in standard mode. Even for max mode, it should be able to complete a full clean.
Maintenance and Longevity
One of the issues I have with affordable robot vacuums and cordless vacuums from the variety of brands available on Amazon is the lack of spare parts and consumables.
It is not much good buying a robot vacuum if you can’t replace its brush, roller or the bags for the auto station. Thankfully, SwitchBot or a much more established and reputable brand.
SwitchBot sells side brushes, dust bags, and brushes for the existing K10+ at a relatively affordable price and I would expect these will all be compatible with the Plus model.
Beyond that, the K10+ Pro is designed for easy maintenance:
- The rubber brush is tangle-resistant and easy to clean.
- The dust bag in the auto-empty station only needs replacing every 90 days on average.
- The robot’s filter is washable, reducing ongoing costs.
SwitchBot states a service life of ≥2 years for the robot, which is standard for this type of device. The app includes features to monitor accessory life and send notifications when components need attention or replacement.
Regular maintenance tasks include:
- Emptying and cleaning the onboard dust bin (if not using the auto-empty feature)
- Cleaning the main brush and side brush
- Wiping the sensors and wheels
- Replacing the dust bag in the auto-empty station when full

Verdict
The SwitchBot Mini Robot Vacuum K10+ Pro is a superb robot vacuum. Its mini form factor makes it unique compared to the competition.
Its strongest selling points are its ability to clean in tight spaces, strong suction power, and the convenience of the auto-empty station. The improved navigation and edge-cleaning capabilities address common pain points in robot vacuum performance.
While I can appreciate the appeal of a smaller robot vacuum for a small apartment, it is not something I would normally factor into my decision-making for a robot vacuum in a normal home. The only real benefit I can think of is that it has less of a problem getting between the legs of chairs or other small gaps around my home.
The small form factor does mean the onboard dustbin is very small, but thankfully, the auto-empty station has performed reliably, and I didn’t have any occasions where I needed to empty the robot manually.
At £420, I think this is reasonably priced. I’d say it is superior to the robot vacuums I have reviewed, which cost around £300, but they lack the advanced features of more expensive models. The one caveat is that I am not sure if this is worth £120 over the existing K10+. The Plus model mainly benefits from the PSD sensor, which helps with corner cleaning, furniture, and increased suction. While that is definitely a welcome upgrade, is it worth £120?
While I haven’t set up any complex smart home automations with this, I can certainly see the appeal this has over other brands that are less easy to integrate. I start work in an office in a couple of weeks, so I will likely set this up to clean when I leave the house rather than on schedule.
Overall, the SwitchBot K10+ Pro is an excellent small robot vacuum. I think it does enough to stand out from the competition, which makes it well worth considering.
