While we may be excited about the UK launch of Xiaomi tomorrow, Oppo is also making moves into the international markets.
While no official UK availability has been announced the Oppo RX17 Pro and RX17 Neo are coming to the EU which was announced yesterday at the Chinese company’s launch event in Milan, Italy.
Both phones will be available to buy in Italy, France, Spain, and the Netherlands on the 16th of November but with EU availability it should be quite easy for UK buyers to get hold of these phones
The Oppo RX17 Pro will be priced at €599 which works out as £522, while the RX17 Neo will be €349 or £304.
The RX17 Pro has a 6.4-inch 1080×2340 AMOLED touchscreen with an under-display fingerprint sensor, the Snapdragon 710 chipset at the 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 3,700 mAh battery. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo underneath Oppo’s ColorOS 5.2.
The rear camera system consists of a 12 MP main snapper with a variable aperture (f/1.5 or f/2.4), a 20 MP f/2.6 secondary snapper, and a TOF 3D stereo camera. On the front, you get a 25 MP lens for selfies.
The RX17 Neo still has the under-display fingerprint scanner but drops the processor down to a Snapdragon 660 with 4GB of RAM. Its rear cameras are different too – a 16 MP f/1.7 main one and a 2 MP secondary unit for depth information. Its battery is 100 mAh smaller than the Pro models at 3,600 mAh.
The pricing of the RX17 Pro makes it more expensive than the recently launched OnePlus 6T which uses the superior Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and does not overlay the Android OS with a skin.
The RX17 Neo is more of an interesting device, the Snapdragon 660 is a solid mid-range processor and the pricing of just above £300 combined with an under-display fingerprint scanner makes it stand out from other mid-range phones.
