It seems Wi-Fi 7 is quickly gaining traction. In the past few days, Netgear announced its £1600+ Netgear Orbi 970 Series, and Intel revealed their new WiFi 7 modules, the BE200 and the BE202.
I am also in the middle of reviewing the Acer Swift Edge 16, which features Wi-Fi 7 using the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 chipset.
As part of the recent Amazon product launch, which included the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max 2nd Gen (2023), Amazon has announced the new Wi-Fi 7 capable eero Max 7 tri-band mesh Wi-Fi router.

Overall
I am quite excited about the prospect of Wi-Fi 7. It seems to promise the sort of performance jump that I would have liked to see going from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6.
The tri-band nature of this router means you will have a shared backhaul which will reduce the overall performance of the satellites. However, I am impressed that you get 2×2.5GbE and 2x10GbE ports. I also love that they have used USB-C with power delivery for the power supply.
With Wi-Fi 7, we should have true multi-gig Wi-Fi and this will also hopefully make multi-gig switches cheaper and more common. I’d especially like to see more 10GbE switches that are affordable.
One downside to Wi-Fi 7 is the high price. The eero Max 7 is significantly cheaper than the Netgear system, but at £600 for a single unit, it is still very much a premium-priced product.
