The original Acer Predator Triton 500 SE was launched back in May 2021, and options going up to the 11th gen Intel Core i9-11950H and RTX 3080.
During CES 2022, Acer has announced a refresh of this excellent laptop with an even more powerful specification.
The new Acer Predator Triton 500 SE (PT516-52s) packs up to the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor. At the time of the writing, this has not been announced, but a quick Google indicates that this new CPU is either the Core i9-12900H or the i9-12900HK both of which are a 14core 20 thread CPU.
The slim nature of this laptop means that the CPU used is most likely the none-overclockable Core i9-12900H, similar to the i9-11950H found on last years model.
It is believed that the CPU will have 2.90 GHz/4.90Ghz base and boost frequencies.
The laptop will also feature a new Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti. Again, due to the slimmer nature of the laptop, this will likely be the Max-Q which doesn’t have quite as much power. You need a much heavier and fatter laptop such as the Acer Predator Helios 500 for the full-sized cards.
The rest of the spec stays similar with a 16-inch 16:10 display with an 87% screen-to-body ratio. Acer don’t state multiple display options but mention the 240Hz WQXGA (2560×1600) panel which was used last year.
The laptop runs Windows 11 out of the box and also features a full range of USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports with support for DisplayPort and power delivery, while an HDMI 2.1 port makes 4K@120 Hz possible by allowing users to plug into an external display. To top everything off, an Intel Killer E3100G 2.5G Ethernet Controller, Intel® Killer Wi-Fi 6E 1675i and Control Center 2.0 empower users with blazing-fast connectivity.
The Predator Triton 500 SE (PT516-52s) will be available in North America in March, starting at USD 2,299.99; in EMEA in February, starting at EUR 3,499; and in China in February, starting at RMB 24,999. UK Q2 2022 – From £1,999 – £2,999.
