We already knew quite a lot about the new Realme GT 2 Pro, and now it has been officially launched in China.
The Realme GT 2 Pro seems to be the first time Realme is trying to aim up the ladder a bit with their flagship phone. The original Realme GT was great, but it was mainly its attractive price that made it stand out from the crowd.
This year they have significantly upgraded the phone with several premium features along with the generic generational chipset upgrade.
First up is the display. It is significantly larger at 6.7 inches, but they have also used a new 120Hz LTPO2 AMOLED display which runs at 3216 x 1440 and has 1400 nits peak brightness, this should compete with some of the best displays on the market.
Then the camera gets a bit upgrade, which was perhaps the weakest spot of the original Realme GT.
You now have a 50MP primary IMX766 flagship-level sensor with all pixel Omni-directional PDAF and OIS features.
Furthermore, the world’s first 150-degree ultra-wide camera shoots extreme panoramas, which are completed by a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor and are combined for the world’s first fish-eye mode.
Then they have a 40X Micro-lens camera that can take extreme close-ups, adding to the impressive camera lineup.
They have also upgraded the battery to a healthy 5000mAh vs 4500mAh.
From the specification, the only things I can see that difference between this and a £900+ premium flagship phone are a lack of telephoto lens, no wireless charging and no IP rating.
Last year Realme didn’t launch a Pro version, so it is hard to compare prices, but this new premium focussed model is more expensive.
The Realme GT 2 Pro starting at CNY 3,899 (£453.63/$613) for the entry-level 8/128GB
The original Realme GT launched at CNY 2,799 (£325) it later went on to launch in the EU for £385.
Realme will also launch a non-pro Realme GT2 which is very similar to the original Realme GT, using the same Snapdragon 888 chipset but with the following improvements:
- Slightly larger 6.62 inch display
- Upgraded to 50MP IMX766 primary camera with OIS
- Increased the battery to 5000mAh
