Twinkly Dots Smart LED String Announced at CES

Sharing is caring!

I have been quite impressed with the Twinkly product range so far. They have expanded away from their excellent Christmas tree string lights into a more mainstream product range such as LED strips and the Twinkly Flex.

As CES 2022, the company has now launched another product suitable for all year use but still works well for holiday celebrations.

The Twinkly Dots claims to be the first app-controlled LED string on the market to feature a miniaturised design that removes the need for the bulk profile of traditional LED strings. The matte bulbs can diffuse 16 million colours at 360 degrees and can be wrapped around any object or stuck to surfaces using adhesive pads. Thanks to nearly invisible wires, the product is extremely light, flexible and discreet.

Unlike the other Twinkly product range, the Dot are USB powered, giving you a more flexible way to install them.

Within each Dots pack, you get 2x 2.5m strands of LEDs which each has 200 addressable LEDs that are capable of 16M+ colours. The LEDs are IP44 rated, so suitable for outdoor use.

Twinkly Dots will be available in-store and online in Q1 2022. The press release does not state pricing.

Full Press Release

Twinkly Dots is the first app-controlled LED string on the market to feature a proprietary miniaturised design that removes the need for the bulky profile of traditional LED strings. Its pill-shaped, matte bulbs can diffuse 16 million colours at 360 degrees and can be wrapped around any object or stuck to surfaces using adhesive pads. Its nearly invisible wires make the product extremely light, flexible and discreet. It is also the first-ever Twinkly product with a USB-powered, totally portable version.

Twinkly Dots combine the versatility of classic LED strings with the refined look and feel of premium interior decorative lighting, entering new frontiers in domestic illumination. Dots can be controlled via app and voice-activated digital assistants. Dots have a lighted length of either 33 feet (200 RGB lights) or 66 feet (400 RGB lights), and feature 0.28-inch LEDs specifically designed with flat matte heads to reach impressive brightness levels and perfect colour tones. (The USB version features 60 LEDs.)

The Twinkly ecosystem comprises a Bluetooth and WiFi controller and a state-of-the-art smartphone application, bringing new heights of lighting design and creativity within your connected home all year round. Like all Twinkly products, Dots can be mapped, and every single LED can be controlled individually, letting users create and reproduce unique effects, gradients and colour animations

Easily configurable via WiFi and Bluetooth, Twinkly Dots is controlled using the free Twinkly app, available for iOS and Android. The Twinkly app lets everyone generate bespoke light design installations thanks to a wide range of premade effects and animations, as well as the ability to create custom effects from scratch using the FX Wizard creation tool. Twinkly Dots even can be grouped together with other Twinkly RGB devices to create larger, synchronized light installations.

“Twinkly Dots is a new revolution in smart lighting: a string of miniaturized LEDs that's perfect for both seasonal decorations and year-round home design illumination,” noted Twinkly CEO Andrea Tellatin. “Dots are so sleek, so bright, so colourful, and so cool! And of course, they include all of the incredible features of the Twinkly ecosystem. You will fall in love with them!”

Twinkly Dots can be controlled seamlessly with assistants such as Hey Google and Amazon Alexa, as well as with Apple HomeKit, Homey, Razer ChromaTM RGB via Twinkly Chroma Connector, and OMEN Light Studio on the OMEN Gaming Hub to enhance the gaming experience with stunning light effects that react to your gameplay. Dots are suitable for indoor and outdoor use (rated IP44) and feature either a black or white cord.

Twinkly’s proprietary Computer Vision enables users to map the exact position of each LED in space and control their installation like an LED screen. Other award-winning features include the ability to group together multiple devices, the download and creation of visual effects, and integration with the main vocal assistants.

Twinkly Dots will be available in store and online in Q1 2022.
