I have been a big fan of Reolink over the past few years. I have found that they make the best-value POE surveillance cameras on the market.
However, other, more expensive options, from the likes of Hikvision, offered superior image quality and superior low-light performance. The ColorVu cameras were all capable of producing colour video in low light without any additional spotlight.
Reolink is now finally catching them up with their new ColorX range of cameras. The new Reolink CX410 is the first camera to launch. This is a 2K 4MP camera which is a bit lower than I’d like, but the actual quality of the image should be excellent thanks to the larger 1/1.8″ camera sensor vs 1/2.8″ on the RLC-811A.
It then has an aperture of F1.0, which allows it to capture four times more light than an F2.0 aperture on other Reolink cameras. This matches the Hikvision ColorVu and should allow colour footage to be captured in almost any low-light scenario without any additional lighting.

To complement this, the CX410 is equipped with a 3000K warm light which is designed to provide an extra layer of protection to your home or business. As soon as the camera detects motion, the warm light will shine brightly, and the siren will sound simultaneously to deter intruders before a crime actually happens, which offers a dual warning system and additional protection. Furthermore, the light and siren can also be manually activated.
The camera then has all the other features we have become accustomed to from Reolink. This includes smart motion detection with an AI-based algorithm that can intelligently detect people, vehicles and pets and send real-time push notifications or emails with event snapshots to your smartphone or other devices.
It can do 24/7 continuous, motion-triggered, or scheduled recording. And all the recordings can be stored on a microSD card, Reolink NVR, or FTP server, ensuring every piece of video is kept secure.
Like other Reolink cameras, you also have ONVIF allowing you to use it with BlueIris or other third-party NVR solutions.
While I would have preferred an 8MP 4K camera, you can’t really complain too much because Reolink is launching the CX410 ColorX with an RRP of £94.99.
In comparison, the Hikvision DS-2CD2047G2-LU 4MP ColorVu Mini will set you back almost £140 and has the same sized 1/1.8″ sensor.
