Official Nokia E75 specification thanks to Expansys + release date

Companies like Expansys and Play like to list products as soon as possible, partly for publicity, partly to get the search engine rankings and partly for the pre-orders.

Expansys are now listing the Nokia E75 allowing people to pre-order it for its expected release date of 13 Mar 09.

The features include:

  • Quad-band GSM / EDGE, dual-band HSDPA (900/2100) at 3.6Mbps
  • 2.4″ 240×320 QVGA display
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, digital zoom, LED flash
  • 30FPS QVGA video recording
  • aGPS
  • WiFi
  • FM radio
  • microSDHC
  • 3.5mm headset, Bluetooth 2.0, microUSB
  • Nokia Maps, PDF Document Viewer, ZIP File Manager
  • Dual home screen (work/personal)
  • 1000 mAh battery
  • 630 mins talk, 408 hrs stand-by time

To be honest the specification seems a little weak especially if you compare it to the forthcoming Nokia N97, however it is an E-Series so it will no doubt be bought up by plenty of business users, also the 1000 mAh looks a little poor especially if you compare it to the excellent Nokia E71’s 1500 mAh battery.

Samsung Acme i8910 revealed

Samsung have been releasing some impressively spec’d phones recently including the WM 6.1 powered Omnia with 8GB of internal memory and the S60 3rd Edition powered INNOV8 (i8510) with 8 megapixel camera and 8GB or 16GB of internal memory.

Unfortunately the INNOV8 (i8510) didn't seem to see much love in the UK, I don’t recall any of the main carriers stocking it on their website, and they certainly don’t seem to now. It is available from 3rd party companies such as mobiles.co.uk but in general only the 8GB version is available, it is also available Sim free from other online retailers but it can be pushing on £500 to buy.

However a follow up to the i8510 has now been revealed which is the Samsung Acme i8910. Hopefully this phone will get a little more love compared to the i8510 as it seems to of retained the excellent specification with some nice little improvements.

The Acme i8910 will run Symbian S60 5th Edition OS, it will have a glass Glass AMOLED touch screen display, 8 GB or16 GB internal memory, HD video recording, DLNA and DivX support HDMI output, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

So it certainly looks like a beast of a phone, and will definitely act as competition to Nokia’s N97.

Nokia E75 Spy Photos

Crave – Cnet have managed to get their paws on some spy shots of the new E75. The Nokia E75 is an ultra-slim dual-keypad slider with a standard 0-9 pad beneath the display and a landscape QWERTY exposed by the slide.

  • 2.4″ 240 x 320 pixel display
  • 3.2 megapixel camera
  • HSDPA
  • Wi-Fi
  • microSDHC support
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • aGPS
  • S60 3rd Edition FP2

While this does look considerably smaller than the E90 I think I would miss my nice large internal screen which has a resolution of 800 x 352 pixels.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Handsets due September. WM 7.0 in April 2010

ZDNet’s Mary-Jo Foley has been hearing from her sources that manufacturers will have access to Windows Mobile 6.5 code from April with the first devices arriving around September. She also reported that the beta Windows Mobile 7 code will be available November of this year with the first handsets following on in April of 2010.

Toshiba TG01 with 1GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm CPU!

Toshiba have just announced what sounds like one hell of a phone that will be on display at the GSMA Mobile World Congress this February.

The TG01 will be the first mobile handset to incorporate the 1GHz snapdragon processor from Qualcomm which I imagine will make it one of the most powerful phones available today.

It also comes with 4.1″ WVGA resistive touchscreen with on-screen trackpad, HSDPA, aGPS, G-sensor, microSDHC support and DivX support.

It will also be 9.9mm thick which means it will be thinner than the iPhone and have a larger screen.

It is reported to run on Windows Mobile 6.1 and will have Internet Explorer Mobile 6 and be able to offer full flash support.

Toshiba have stated that:

We’ve taken all the technology from our TVs and put that into the screen

Looking at this device this is a clear competitor for everybody's favourite iPhone. The hardware certainly sounds like it could offer considerably more than the iPhone however it is not unlikely that Windows Mobile 6.1 will let it down. They could of at least gone with WM 6.5! Toshiba have tried to counter the issues with WM 6.1 by implementing their own interface over the OS.

Philips’ Ultra-Widescreen Cinema 21:9 TV Video’s

Philips recently showed off their new Ultra-Widescreen Cinema 21:9 TV in London that we previously blogged about.

The TV is reported to be 56", 5 HDMI sockets and is likely to be launch in spring at a cost of £3,000. I think that is a pretty decent price considering it is a highly niche market and quite a big screen, I would certainly take it over Sony's XEL-1 OLED which retails at £3,489.
