Similar to Xiaomi, Oppo is a mega brand that has a large market share in the Chinese market. They manufacture both affordable phones and some beautifully unique phones such as the Find X with its slider mechanism.
They are now expanding their reach with official UK availability in a partnership with Carphone Warehouse and Currys. They have big plans for 2019 with them expected to launch a 5G phone at MWC next month, so their arrival in the UK is great for buyers.
The UK launch has been quite small with just three phones becoming available from either Carphone Warehouse or Currys but they are all great phones and give us more options.
At the top of the pack is the Oppo Find X which was announced earlier last year and one of the first phones to ditch the notch in favour of a sliding mechanism. I have not had chance to use it but it looks beautiful and is supposed to be an amazing phone
It features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The display is 6.4 inches AMOLED running at 2340 by 1080 pixels and no notch interfering with its aesthetics. The rear camera is 20-megapixel & 16-megapixel and the slider hides a 25-megapixel selfie camera.
The Find X will be available from both stores for £799.
A more affordable option is the Oppo RX17 Pro priced at £549. This has a Snapdragon 710 chipset, there’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage plus there is Oppo’s super-fast SuperVOOC 50w charging.
This has a 12MP + 20MP rear camera and 25MP front camera with a 3700mAh battery.
Lastly, the most affordable offering is the RX17 Neo which will cost £319 and has the Snapdragon 660 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
This has a 16MP+2MP rear camera and a 25MP front camera with a 3600mAh battery.
All three phones should be available to order today.
