With the OnePlus 8 not expected to launch for several months any leaked information is uncertain.
The OnePlus 8 and Pro models are inevitable, but the most interesting details are for the new model in the series, the OnePlus 8 Lite.

Apart from the obvious chipset upgrades, there are a few interesting specs with the three models. They will all be 5G, which was a given with the new chipsets announced for 2020.
It looks like they will all adopt a punch-hole display, getting rid of the notch or motorised pop-up.
This is the first year that OnePlus will adopt an IP rating. The IP53 rating of all three phones is quite low with the 5 standing for dust and the 3 for spraying water, but it is better than nothing.
OnePlus 8 Lite Specification
First of all, I will get the chipset out of the way with, the leak indicated that it will feature the new Mediatek Dimensity 1000 SoC, the new 5G enabled flagship chipset from the company.
I suspect there is a chance that this may not be 100% accurate and instead will be the Mediatek Dimensity 1000L which is a small step down from the flagship option. It seems odd to have three phones launching at the same time all with similar performing chipsets. At the same time, there isn’t much of a price difference between the Lite and standard model, so the full fat Dimensity is possible.
If this leak is accurate, performance should be very similar between the two models, and it could make the middle model a bit redundant.
OnePlus 8 Specification
Almost identical to the Lite, you get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which should offer fractionally better performance than the Mediatek Dimensity 1000. Qualcomm use LPDDR5 vs LPDDR4X which will help with the performance a little.
The model increases the camera’s specification to 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 f/1.7 main camera, 20-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide and 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto
OnePlus 8 Pro Specification
The Pro model offers a moderate bump in spec again. In particular, this one uses a twin punch-hole display to squeeze in a TOF sensor for some fancy portrait selfies & 3D facial recognition. The rear camera increases the zoom to 10x hybrid with the aid of a TOF sensor on here too while retaining the other camera specs.
The larger 4,500mAH battery is split into two, which helps facilitate the new super-fast 50W charging as seen on the Realme X2 Pro and OPPO phones.
