Obsbot has updated its popular static webcam, the Meet, with the new Obsbot Meet 2.
I have previously reviewed the various Obsbot PTZ cameras, including the Tiny 2, Tiny 2 Lite, Tiny 4K, and Tail Air. They have all been impressive devices, and the new Obsbot Meet 2 features some of the superb tech of the Tiny PTZ cameras but at a more affordable price point.
The new Obsbot Meet 2 improves on the Meet 4K with a new larger sensor, improved focus, audio and a smaller design.

Obsbot Meet 2 vs Obsbot Meet Comparison
The Meet 2 brings several notable upgrades over its predecessor:
Compact and Stylish Design
The Meet 2 stands out as the most compact and lightweight option in the Obsbot webcam series. Its diminutive size makes it ideal for users who value a clean, uncluttered workspace. The webcam is available in multiple colours, allowing users to choose a style that best suits their setup.
Larger Sensor and Wider Aperture
A significant improvement in the Meet 2 is its larger 1/2″ CMOS sensor, coupled with a wider F/1.8 aperture. This combination offers superior image quality compared to the Meet 4K and original Meet, particularly in low-light conditions. The larger sensor and wider aperture allow more light to reach the sensor, resulting in clearer, brighter images even when ambient lighting is less than ideal.
Enhanced Focus Technology
The Meet 2 employs advanced Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology, a substantial upgrade from previous models. This focus method ensures faster and more precise focusing, which is particularly beneficial for live stream demonstrations or any situation where quick and accurate focus is essential.
Improved Audio Capabilities
Audio quality sees a boost in the Meet 2 with its dual omni-directional microphones. These are equipped with Noise Reduction technology and a new Auto Gain Control feature. These enhancements work together to maintain clear voice capture even in noisy environments, making the Meet 2 a solid choice for gaming streams and video calls where audio clarity is paramount.
Customisable Auto Sleep Background
A unique feature of the Meet 2 is the ability to personalise the background image displayed during the device’s auto-sleep mode. Users can upload custom images to use as the default built-in background, offering a level of personalisation not available in the Meet and Meet 4K models, which display a black background when in sleep mode.
Obsbot Meet 2 Features
Compact 4K Webcam Design
The Obsbot Meet 2 distinguishes itself as one of the smallest 4K webcams available. Its compact size, comparable to a wireless earphones case, makes it an excellent choice for users looking to minimise desk clutter. The webcam attaches easily to laptops using a magnetic mount, offering flexibility in positioning.
Available in Cloud White, Space Grey, and Aurora Green, the Meet 2 caters to various aesthetic preferences while maintaining the iconic design language of the Meet Series. This blend of style and functionality makes it a visually appealing addition to any workspace.
Video Quality and Performance
The Meet 2 supports 4K video at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps, delivering high-resolution options for various use cases. This level of video quality is suitable for professional video conferencing, detailed live streaming, and high-quality content creation.
The webcam’s 1/2″ CMOS sensor and F/1.8 aperture work together to enhance light capture, resulting in clearer and brighter images, particularly in low-light conditions. This feature is especially beneficial for users who stream or record in less-than-ideal lighting situations, such as gamers who often work in dimly lit environments.
Autofocus and Zoom Capabilities
The Meet 2 incorporates Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology, which provides fast and accurate focusing. This is complemented by a 4x digital zoom feature, allowing users to frame their shots more precisely without sacrificing image quality. The combination of quick autofocus and zoom functionality makes the Meet 2 well-suited for dynamic video content where the subject may be moving or changing position frequently.
Audio Performance
Audio quality is a critical aspect of any webcam, and the Meet 2 addresses this with built-in dual omnidirectional microphones. These microphones feature advanced Noise Reduction technology and Auto Gain Control. This audio setup is designed to capture clear voice audio even in challenging acoustic environments, making it a solid choice for users who need reliable audio performance in various settings.
AI-Powered Imaging Technology
The Meet 2 leverages sophisticated AI algorithms to enhance the user experience. Its AI Auto Framing feature automatically adjusts the frame to keep the subject centred and well-composed, whether in Portrait or Landscape mode. This functionality is particularly useful for users who move around during calls or streams, as it maintains a professional-looking composition without manual adjustments.
In Landscape Mode, users can choose between Close-up Mode for detailed facial shots or Upper Body Mode for presentations that require more movement. The Group Mode is a thoughtful addition for multi-person calls, automatically adjusting the frame as participants join or leave to ensure everyone remains in view.
The Portrait Mode similarly uses AI to dynamically adjust framing, making it ideal for vertical video content popular on many social media platforms.
Integration and Ease of Use
The Meet 2 is designed for straightforward setup and use. It’s a plug-and-play device, requiring no additional drivers or software for basic functionality. The magnetic mount allows for easy attachment and angle adjustments on various surfaces.
For users looking for more advanced control, the Meet 2 integrates with the OBSBOT Center software. This application provides access to features like AI Auto-Framing, Auto Focus, Bokeh effects, and Beauty Mode. It also supports multi-camera setup management, making it a versatile tool for more complex streaming or recording setups.
The webcam’s also supports OSC, Global Hotkey, and Stream Deck making it more appealing for content creators and streamers who require quick access to camera controls during live broadcasts.
Unboxing / Design
The Obsbot Meet 2 comes packaged in a compact box that reflects its minimalist design philosophy. Upon opening, users will find:
- The Obsbot Meet 2 webcam
- A USB-A to USB-C adapter
- A USB-C cable
- A privacy cover
- The Meet 2 magnetic stand
- A user manual
- A warranty card
The webcam itself is strikingly small, measuring just 45 x 36 x 22.2 mm and weighing a mere 40.5 grams without the mount. This compact size is one of the Meet 2’s standout features, making it incredibly portable and unobtrusive when mounted on a laptop or monitor.
The design of the Meet 2 maintains the sleek, modern aesthetic of its predecessors while further refining the form factor. Available in three colours – Cloud White, Space Grey, and Aurora Green – the Meet 2 offers users the chance to choose a webcam that complements their setup or personal style.
The build quality feels solid despite its lightweight nature. The matte finish on the body resists fingerprints and gives the webcam a premium feel. The front of the device houses the camera lens and microphones, while the back features the USB-C port for connection.
The magnetic mount is a clever addition, allowing for easy attachment to most laptop screens or monitors. It provides a secure hold while still allowing for quick removal when needed. For those preferring a more traditional setup, the 1/4″ thread on the bottom of the webcam allows for mounting on standard tripods.
The included privacy cover is a welcome addition in an age where digital privacy is increasingly important. It attaches magnetically and can be easily flipped down to cover the lens when the webcam is not in use.
Obsbot Center
The Obsbot Center software serves as the control hub for the Meet 2, offering users a range of customisation options and advanced features. While the webcam functions as a plug-and-play device for basic use, the Obsbot Center unlocks its full potential.
Upon launching the software, users are presented with a clean, intuitive interface. The main screen displays the webcam feed, with controls and settings neatly arranged around it. The software is well-organised, making it easy for both novice and experienced users to navigate.
Key features accessible through the Obsbot Center include:
- AI Auto Framing: Users can enable or disable this feature, which keeps the subject centred in the frame.
- Auto Focus and Manual Focus: The software allows switching between automatic and manual focus modes, with fine-tuning options available in manual mode.
- Exposure and White Balance: These settings can be adjusted automatically or manually, giving users control over the image’s brightness and colour temperature.
- Beauty Mode: This feature offers subtle enhancements to the user’s appearance, with adjustable intensity.
- Bokeh Effect: Users can add a background blur effect, simulating the shallow depth of field often seen in professional photography.
- Image Flip and Rotate: These options are useful for different mounting configurations, including upside-down mounting.
- Resolution and Frame Rate Selection: Users can choose from various resolution and frame rate combinations, up to 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps.
- Audio Settings: The software provides controls for microphone gain and noise reduction.
- Auto Sleep: This feature can be configured to put the webcam to sleep after a set period of inactivity, with options to customise the sleep background.
The Obsbot Center also supports multi-camera setups, allowing users to switch between different Obsbot cameras if they have more than one connected. This feature is particularly useful for content creators or streamers who use multiple camera angles.
One of the software’s strengths is its ability to save and quickly switch between different presets. This allows users to set up configurations for various scenarios (e.g., bright room, low light, group call) and switch between them with a single click.
The software receives regular updates, which not only fix bugs but also occasionally introduce new features. This ongoing support suggests that the Meet 2’s capabilities may continue to expand over time.
While the Obsbot Center offers a wealth of features, it may be more than some users need. For those who prefer a simple plug-and-play experience, the basic functionality of the Meet 2 works well without the software.
Performance
The Obsbot Meet 2’s performance is where it truly shines, living up to its promise of delivering high-quality video and audio across various use cases.
Video Quality
In well-lit conditions, the Meet 2 produces sharp, clear 4K video at 30fps. The larger 1/2″ CMOS sensor captures an impressive amount of detail, making text on whiteboards or fine details in product demonstrations easily visible. Colours are accurate and vibrant without appearing oversaturated.
The webcam particularly excels in low-light situations, thanks to its F/1.8 aperture. In dimly lit rooms, it manages to produce brighter, clearer images compared to many competing webcams. While some noise is inevitable in very low light, the Meet 2 handles these conditions admirably, maintaining good colour accuracy and detail.
The 4x digital zoom feature is useful for framing shots more tightly, though as expected with digital zoom, there is some loss of quality at maximum zoom levels. However, for most practical purposes, the zoom function performs well.
Autofocus Performance
The Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) system proves to be quick and accurate in most situations. It rapidly adjusts focus when subjects move closer to or further from the camera, with minimal hunting or pulsing. This makes the Meet 2 well-suited for dynamic content where the subject may be moving around, such as during product demonstrations or animated presentations.
AI Auto Framing
The AI Auto Framing feature works as advertised, keeping subjects centred in the frame even as they move. The framing adjustments are smooth and natural, avoiding jarring or abrupt movements. This feature is particularly useful for presenters who like to move around or for group calls where participants might shift positions.
Audio Quality
The dual omnidirectional microphones with Noise Reduction and Auto Gain Control perform well in various environments. In quiet rooms, voice capture is clear and natural. In noisier settings, such as a busy home office or a café, the noise reduction does a good job of minimising background sounds without making the voice sound overly processed.
The Auto Gain Control is particularly useful, maintaining consistent audio levels even when the speaker moves closer to or further from the microphones. This feature helps prevent sudden volume changes that can be distracting during calls or streams.
Stability and Reliability
Throughout testing, the Meet 2 proved to be a stable and reliable device. It maintained consistent performance over extended periods of use, with no noticeable degradation in video or audio quality. The webcam didn’t exhibit any overheating issues, even during long 4K recording sessions.
The USB-C connection remained stable, with no instances of disconnection or need for re-plugging. This reliability is crucial for professional use, where technical issues can be particularly disruptive.
Software Integration
When used with the Obsbot Center software, the Meet 2’s performance can be further fine-tuned. The software runs smoothly and responds quickly to adjustments, allowing for real-time changes to video settings without noticeable lag.
The Beauty Mode, while subtle, does provide a slight enhancement to appearance without looking unnatural. The Bokeh effect is also well-implemented, creating a pleasing background blur that helps the subject stand out.
Compatibility
The Meet 2 worked seamlessly with a variety of video conferencing and streaming platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and OBS Studio. It was recognised instantly as a video and audio source without the need for additional drivers or setup.
Price and Alternative Options
The Obsbot Meet 2 enters the market with an RRP of $129, which is likely to translate to around £129 in the UK market, following the common pricing parity between these currencies in the tech sector.
This pricing positions the Meet 2 in the mid-to-high range of the webcam market, reflecting its advanced features and 4K capabilities. To put this in context, let’s consider some alternative options:
- Obsbot Meet 4K: The predecessor to the Meet 2, this model has an RRP of £129 but can often be found for around £99. While it offers 4K resolution, it lacks some of the advanced features of the Meet 2, such as the larger sensor and improved low-light performance.
- Logitech C920 HD Pro: A popular choice among users, priced at around £80. However, it’s limited to Full HD 1080p resolution, lacking the 4K capabilities of the Meet 2.
- Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra: Considered one of the top options in the market, it comes with a premium price tag of around £300. It features an 8.3MP sensor and can record at 4K 30FPS, putting it in direct competition with the Meet 2 in terms of resolution, albeit at a much higher price point.
- Logitech MX Brio: Another well-regarded 4K webcam, priced at around £220. It offers similar resolution capabilities to the Meet 2 but at a higher price point.
- AnkerWork C310: This webcam offers 4K resolution at a more affordable price point, with an RRP of £100 but often available for around £80. It presents a strong alternative for users looking for 4K capabilities on a tighter budget.
Overall
The Obsbot Meet 2 is a an excellent small 4K webcam with a reasonable price point.
The Meet 2 stands out with its bigger 1/2″ CMOS sensor and wider F/1.8 aperture. These two work together to give you top-notch image quality when the lighting isn’t great. This makes it a great pick for folks who make content, stream online, or need it for work – they can get clear detailed video no matter how bright or dark it is. The camera also has this smart Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) that keeps everything in focus even if you’re moving around a lot during a presentation or showing how to do something.
Sound quality often ignored in webcams, gets a big boost in the Meet 2. The two omnidirectional mics with Noise Reduction and Auto Gain Control deliver crisp pro-level audio even in tricky sound settings. This feature by itself could make the Meet 2 the top pick for people who value clear sound in their video chats.
The AI-powered tools, like Auto Framing and various shooting modes, add a smart touch that makes the Meet 2 stand out from many rivals. These clever functions help users look more polished during video calls or live streams, without having to keep adjusting things .
