I have previously reviewed the Obsbot Tiny 2, Tiny 4K and Tail Air and thought they were all superb. I continue to use the Tiny 2 as my main webcam today.
At NAB 2024, Obsbot announced its latest camera, the Tiny 2 Lite, which offers almost the same features as the Tiny 2 but with s smaller image sensor and lower price point.

Basically, the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite has almost all the same features as the Tiny 2, but the sensor size is smaller at 1/2”, which sits somewhere between the Tiny 2 and Tiny 4K.
Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite Review vs Tiny 2 Design
The Lite name doesn’t relate directly to the overall size. They are both very similar in size, and the camera head of the Lite is bigger than that of the normal Tony 2.
The overall design is largely the same, the main difference is that the Tiny 2 Lite has an adjustable monitor mount built in whereas the Tiny 2 has a separate mount.
Camera Features
Large 1/2″ CMOS Sensor and Ultra HD 4K Resolution
The OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite webcam features an impressive 1/2″ CMOS sensor, one of the largest in its class. Paired with Ultra HD 4K video resolution, this sensor enables the Tiny 2 Lite to capture incredibly detailed, true-to-life video with excellent low-light performance and colour accuracy. The 4K resolution delivers 4 times the detail of 1080p Full HD, making your video feed look crisp and engaging even on large monitors. Whether you’re live streaming, video conferencing, or recording, the Tiny 2 Lite’s premium optics ensure you’ll look your best in any lighting conditions.
Intelligent Auto Tracking with Auto Zoom
Using advanced AI algorithms and a 2-axis motorised gimbal, the OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite can automatically track and follow your movements to keep you perfectly framed at all times. Even more impressive, it can dynamically adjust the zoom level to maintain ideal framing as you move around. You can also choose to track a specific body part like your head or upper body and the Tiny 2 Lite will seamlessly adjust the framing to focus on that region. This intelligent tracking frees you to move and present naturally, without having to worry about staying within the camera frame. It’s a game-changer for teachers, presenters, and anyone who needs to move around while staying on camera.
Customisable Preset Modes
With the OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite’s preset modes, you can create custom camera settings for different scenarios and recall them instantly with a single click. Preset modes let you configure the camera’s pan, tilt, and zoom positions as well as image settings like exposure, white balance, and focus mode. You can even enable background blur to keep the focus on you. Having preset modes enables you to optimise your camera settings for different situations like a head-and-shoulders view for video calls, a wider view for presentations, or a zoomed-in view for product demos. Quickly switching between preset modes lets you use the Tiny 2 Lite for multiple use cases without fiddling with settings each time, massively boosting your productivity.
Crystal-Clear Audio with Dual Noise-Cancelling Mics
Great audio is just as important as great video for effective communication and engaging content. The OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite has you covered with two built-in omnidirectional microphones that capture clear, natural-sounding audio from any direction. Intelligent noise cancellation technology analyses the audio in real-time to isolate your voice and suppress unwanted background noise. An audio algorithm also automatically optimises voice pickup and volume levels to ensure consistently excellent voice clarity, even in noisy environments. With the Tiny 2 Lite’s premium mics, your voice will come through loud and clear whether you’re on a video call, live stream, or recording a presentation.
Versatile and Easy to Use
The OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite packs a ton of flexibility and ease-of-use into a sleek, compact design. Measuring just 48.37 x 46.46 x 64.2mm and weighing only 91.4g, it’s small enough to take anywhere but delivers outsized performance. The integrated tilt hinge and tripod mount offer flexible placement options to get the perfect camera angle. You can mount it on top of your monitor, set it on a desk, or attach it to a tripod. The Tiny 2 Lite works seamlessly with all major video conferencing and live streaming software like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, OBS Studio, and more. Just plug it in via the included USB cable and you’re ready to go – no drivers or software required. With 360° horizontal rotation, 90° vertical tilt, and multiple shooting modes, including portrait and upside-down orientations, the Tiny 2 Lite adapts to any setup or filming scenario. Whether you’re attending a meeting, presenting a lecture, streaming on Twitch, or filming a TikTok video, the OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite has you covered with pro-level features and unbeatable ease of use.
Obsbot Center
In terms of features within the Obsbot Center, both cameras appear to be identical.
Under the main console page, you will find all the camera’s controls. This includes:
- AI human tracking – This is probably Obsbot’s main selling point. You can have the camera track your movement
- AI mode
- Presets
- View & Gimball
Under the image section you have controls for things like focus, exposure, white balance, contrast, saturation, sharpness and hue.
The beauty tab provides some useful features. The camera applies the beauty features to a virtual camera feed for these settings, so you need to change your camera settings. I found that the Windows video recorder couldn’t connect to this, but other applications, such as OBS Studio, had no problems.
As these features require a certain amount of processing power, things like the advanced blur effect are limited to computers equipped with the Nvidia GTX 20 series or higher.
On my Geekom 13, the native blur effects work well.
The various beauty features apply different filters to your face and background. The classic retouch option appears to reduce blemishes and smooth out my skin a bit, and you can also slim your face. Similarly, under the body section, you have various options to slim your body.
I am not overly fond of all these beauty features, but they are popular with a lot of people.
I found the blur effects useful, and it is handy as some video appointments I attend use the video in the browser, and there is no option for background blur, so I then have to make sure my office is as tidy as possible!
Performance
I have continued to use the Tiny 2 as my main camera since I reviewed it. Admittedly, I don’t use it to its full potential. I don’t really use the tracking features, but I find the gimbal and zoom options incredibly useful, as I can focus on my face without messing around with the position of the camera.
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite performance is excellent, in a well lit room I can barely tell the difference in quality. The image quality is excellent and the video is smooth, as is the gimbal motion.
Price and Alternative Options
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite will be available globally in June 2024 on www.obsbot.com and major retailers worldwide. Pricing starts at $179 USD in the US and £149 in the UK.
The Obsbot Tiny 2 has an RRP of $329/£269, and Obsbot states that the older models are now out of stock. Amazon has the Tiny 2 for £279 and the 1080P model for £229.
For competing options, the Insta360 Link is likely the best alternative, priced at £266, and it has the same size sensor as the Tiny 2 Lite.
Overall
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite is an excellent webcam, just like all the other Obsbot cameras I have reviewed.
Due to it costing significantly less than the Tiny 2 then it is a superb buy. You get almost the same performance. The sensor size makes a difference, but in a well-lit room, I can tell that much difference.
