Following on from my review of the excellent Lepro N1 AI Smart Neon Light Strip, I have also been reviewing the WL1 AI Smart LED Wall Light.

This uses straight plastic LED sections with 90-degree angle connections, allowing you to create attractive light designs on your wall.

Functionally, this works exactly the same way as the N1 Light Strip, with all the same AI features, and you could use the two together to create an impressive lighting effect.

Unboxing / Design / Assembly

The Lepro WL1 comes packaged with 6 straight LED bars, two right-angle corners, mounting attachments, and a power supply. The components are primarily made of plastic, which is expected for this type of product.

Assembly of the Lepro WL1 presents some challenges. The process of connecting the sections using the plastic clips with contact points for the electronic components can be frustrating. The clips don’t always secure firmly, leading to sections becoming detached when moved slightly during the initial setup.

This issue is reminiscent of the Nanoleaf Shapes, which also had connection problems. While the clips tend to stay more securely in place once mounted on the wall, the initial assembly process can be trying.

The design flexibility is somewhat limited. With only two right-angle attachments and connectors that have different-shaped connections on each end, users need to carefully plan their layout to match the correct sides of the LED sections.

Despite these assembly challenges, the final product, once successfully mounted, creates an impressive visual effect.

The Lepro WL1 AI Smart Wall Light has an RRP of £99.99 for the 8-piece pack or £69.99 for the 6-piece pack.

It is also available on Amazon, and at the time of writing there was a £40 and £30 voucher available respectively.

Govee has the RGBIC Glide Wall Lights for £49, which are not quite the same as they are straighter. They also have the Govee RGBIC LED Strip Lights 5M with Covers, Smart LED Lights for £79.

Nanoleaf is likely the best alternative, but it also has a premium price. The Lines 90 Degrees Starter Kit is available for £90, and the Lines 60 Degrees Starter Kit (9-lines) is £180. They then have a bundle, with the Live Wire being the cheapest at £234, and the massive Immersion Bundle is £697

Overall

The assembly process may prove frustrating for some users. The issues with securing connections echo similar problems faced by other modular lighting systems like Nanoleaf.
