We already know that the Garmin Forerunner 945 launch is imminent and that it will bring NFC payments, maps and a music option to the device similar to other upgraded watches is the series.

Now a new leak, thanks to Clever Training listing the devices early, via ActiveJr, has revealed details of the new Forerunner 245 and 45 as well as US pricing for all the models.

With US pricing, if we look at existing products you can guestimate how it might translate. The Garmin Forerunner 645 Music on Clever Training is $449.99 and on Wiggle, they list the RRP as £399.99 then the FR235 is $249.99 or £199.99.

Garmin Forerunner 245

The FR245 gets the music treatment and will come in two models similar to other watches in Garmin's lineup. The FR235 was my first Garmin watch and while it had its quirks it did the job it needed to well, and is a great starter watch for runners.

The music edition allows you to sync with music streaming services, such as Spotify, to easily store and play your favourite rite songs right from your watch.

Bother versions are 5ATM and have dimentions of 1.7” x 1.7” x 0.5” (42.3 mm x 42.3 mm x 12.2 mm).

Garmin Forerunner 945

Many of the details have already been revealed about this watch and it will be a great alternative to the Fenix series, saving a little bit of money.

This leak states that the watch comes in standard and premium editions with the premium edition costing $749 and comes with an HRH monitor. It appears that either version of the watch will have music and that the premium edition is just a bundle.

The above image which was directly from the Garmin websites shows that there is a standard edition and a music edition. So the exact product lineup is unclear, it could be that the premium edition is the music edition and you get an HR strap.

This has 5ATM water rating and a dimension of 1.9” (47 mm)

Features include:

  • Premium GPS running/triathlon smartwatch with music
  • Sync music from select premium streaming services when paired with a compatible smartphone (may require premium subscription), or store up to 1,000 songs on your watch, and connect with headphones (sold separately) enabled with BLUETOOTH®technology for phone-free listening
  • Performance monitoring features include VO2 max and training status with adjustments for heat, altitude acclimation status, training load focus, recovery time, and aerobic and anaerobic training effects
