Multiple companies are trying to push out a mid-range 5G phone as quickly as possible, and it looks like Xiaomi will pip everyone to the post.
Xiaomi has officially revealed the promo poster for the new Redmi K30 confirming the launch date will be on the 10th of December, it had previously been expected to launch early 2020.
The Redmi K30 switches design from the popular Redmi K20 and ditches the pop-up selfie camera in favour of a dual punch hole, not dissimilar to the Realme X50 that launches soon.
It has now also been confirmed that the Redmi K30 will have dual-mode 5G support (Non-Standalone and Standalone networks) in China.
Nothing else has been confirmed, but it is expected that the phone will feature the much rumoured Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 which is the new mid-range chipset from Qualcomm that has an integrated 5G modem.
Several leaks have also suggested the phone could feature a 120Hz refresh rate display. The device will run on MIUI 11 out of the box. Moreover, we could get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner with the Redmi K30.
China has a busy month in December for phone releases, the Huawei Nova 6 launches on the 6th and the Oppo Reno 3 is expected on the 13th (which will also likely have the SD735 with 5G).
