There is not that much to reveal about the new Xiaomi Mi 9 as Xiaomi have been revealing details themselves over the past few weeks.

However, the phone is now official and all the specs have been confirmed. The company’s latest flagship that runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform is complemented with various memory configurations from 6/64GB up to 12GB/256GB for the transparent edition.

The rear of the phone features a new AI triple camera containing the latest 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor which is then complemented with a 12MP Telephoto + 16MP Wide-Angle. The camera has been tested by DxOMark achieving an overall score of 107, which secures it the third spot in DxOMark’s all-time ranking, just behind the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro. The Mi 9 got a 112 photo score and the highest video score ever with 99.

This will be the words first phone to feature 20W wireless charging and the battery inside the phone is 3300mAh

The screen of the phone is a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 Samsung AMOLED Dot Drop display. Under this display is a new and improved in-screen fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone up to 25% faster than the previous generation, and works well even in low-light conditions.

Mi 9 Transparent Edition

Mi 9 Transparent Edition features a seamless all-curved glass body with a futuristic design carved using CNC micro-engraving technology. It is also one of the world’s first smartphones to adopt 12GB high-speed RAM, and has an upgraded large f/1.47 aperture and 7P camera lens.

It is worth noting that the the attractive transparent case features fake PCBs, but it still looks great as far as I am concerned.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE

The more interesting news (because I didn’t know anything about it) is the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE which will be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 712 chipset, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 710 chipset. Even with a 5.99“ large Dot Drop display, the size of the device is comparable to a classic phone with a 5.1” screen. Similar to Mi 9, Mi 9 SE offers LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, Samsung AMOLED screen, holographic rainbow spectrum surface on the back cover, Sony IMX586 sensor as well as the latest in-screen fingerprint sensor module, making it a flagship within the compact phone category.

Xiaomi will host a global launch event #WeMakeItHappen in Barcelona, Spain on 24 February 2019 (10:30am GMT+1) for new global product announcements.
