Vivo subbrand IQOO has just announced their iQOO 3 5G, it is highly unlikely we will see it in the UK but it is launching in India and is joining the Realme X50 Pro 5G as the first two flagship devices with 5G to launch there. Ironically, there is no 5G network in India yet, nor are there any immediate plans to launch it.
Chipset, RAM and Specs
Like most flagship phones launching in the first half of this year, both the iQOO 3 and Realme X50 Pro feature the superb Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which is then paired with the 5G capable X55 modem.
While some companies continue to use the slower LPDDR4x (Sony Xperia 1 Mk 2) both iQOO and Real me use the faster LPDDR5.
iQOO use the slightly faster UFS3.1 storage while Realme uses UFS 3.0.
Both phones have 6GB/128GB base models, and both go up to 12GB/256GB
Display & Dimensions
Both phones have a suspiciously similar display and frame.
The Realme measures 159 x 74.2 x 9.4 mm
The iQOO is 158.5 x 74.9 x 9.2 mm
Then they both have a 6.44 inch 1080 x 2400 pixel AMOLED display. However, the iQOO only has a standard 60Hz refresh rate but with 180Hz touch-sensing, whereas the Realme has 90Hz with 180Hz touch-sensing
IQOO calls the screen “Polar View Display” and it can reach up to 1200nits brightness in some scenarios and supports HDR10+ content playback.
Camera
The Vivo iQOO 3 5G has four cameras on the back – a 48MP f/1.8 Sony IMX582 main unit is joined by a 13MP f/2.46 telephoto lens, a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G is not dissimilar, also with four cameras but with:
- 64 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.72″, 0.8µm, PDAF
- 12 MP, f/2.5, 54mm (telephoto), 2x optical zoom, PDAF
- 8 MP, f/2.3, 13mm (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm, PDAF
- 2 MP B/W, f/2.4, (depth)
On the front the iQOO 3 has a single 16MP pinch hole selfie camera whereas the Realme use a dual punch hole with 32MP wide and 8MP ultra-wide
Battery
The iQOO 3 has a 4400 mAh battery which can then be charged via 55W Super FlashCharge. The Realme has a 4200 mAh battery and this can be charged via a 65W SuperDart Flash Charge
Other Features
The iQOO 3 is a gaming orientated brand from Vivo, so this comes with wo shoulder keys, which the company calls Monster Touch buttons. There is 4D game vibrations that simulate recoil when shooting a gun while gaming. Holding the two keys can activate Monster Mode that runs the chipset at 100% which may minimize lag on some occasions, but will certainly be taxing on the battery.
Price
The vivo iQOO 3 is going to come in three versions – 8/128GB LTE that costs INR36,990 ($515/€475/£397) and 8/256GB LTE going for INR39,990 ($555/€512/£428). The third option is the only one that is 5G-enabled, comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and will be INR44,990 ($625/€575/£480 ).
Realme X50 Pro 5G price in India has been set at Rs. 37,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant, while its 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 39,999.
In the EU the Realme X50 Pro is priced from 599-Euros.
