The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G officially launched on the 13th of February and Realme X50 Pro 5G launched today via a global launch event streamed on YoutTube.

Realme have quickly gained popularity offering tremendous value for money with the Realme X2 Pro being one of my favourite devices of 2019, but can they keep this trend going for 2020?

Price

Both phones will be cheaper than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S20 series.

The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro went on sale in China at 10am on 14 February, with prices starting at 3,999 yuan (£442/US$573) and 4,999 yuan (£552/$716) respectively. There is currently no word on UK/EU pricing or availability but it will be higher than the Chinese prices.

The Mi 9 launched at £499 for 8GB/128GB and this is likely to increase for the Mi 10.

Realme X2 Pro is currently available for 439 Euros/£370.

The Realme X50 Pro will cost €599 for the base 8GB+128GB configuration, €669 for double the storage and €749 for the top 12GB/256GB version. The Realme will be available from April.

Chipset

Both phones will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 5G. The Realme is confirmed to have one model variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and the base model is 8GB/128GB.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G has models from 8GB/128GB through to 12GB/256GB.

Display

The Xiaomi comes with a 6.67 inch AMOLED display running at 1080 x 2340 pixels with 120 Hz refresh rate. It will have a small punch hole to the upper left of the display.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G display is a 6.44 inch 90Hz Super AMOLED screen upgrading the phone from IPS on the cheaper X50.

The existing X50 is a 6.57 inch IPS display running at 1080 x 2400 pixels with a 120Hz.

Camera

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G will feature an impressive arrangement of:

  • 108 MP, f/1.7, (wide), 1/1.33″, 0.8µm, PDAF, Laser AF, OIS
  • 8 MP, f/2.0, (telephoto), 1.0µm, PDAF, Laser AF, OIS, 10x hybrid optical zoom
  • 12 MP, f/2.0, (portrait), 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, 2x optical zoom
  • 20 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultrawide)

On the front, there is a single 20MP lens with a f/2.0 aperture.

The Realme X50 Pro has

  • 64 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.72″, 0.8µm, PDAF
  • 12 MP, f/2.5, 54mm (telephoto), 2x optical zoom, PDAF
  • 8 MP, f/2.3, 13mm (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
  • 2 MP B/W, f/2.4, (depth)

On the front, things there has been a small bump in spec from the normal X50 with

  • 32MP, f/2.0, 26mm (wide), 1/3″, 1.0µm
  • 8 MP, f/2.2, 17mm (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm

Battery

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G launched with a smaller battery than expected with 4500 mAh, though this is still much larger than last year. The phone has a 50W charger but it is compatible with 65W charging and wireless charging of 30W.

The Realme X50 Pro has a 4200 mAh battery with 65W SuperDart Flash Charge

Other Features – NFC, 3.5mm, IP Rating.

Both phones have NFC, neither have a microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack or an IP rating.
