Today, Redmagic announced its first gaming monitor alongside a range of gaming peripherals.

The Redmagic gaming monitor has an impressive specification making it suitable for all aspects of gaming. This seems to be the same RedMagic GM001J that was announced in China towards the end of last year.

The 27-inch IPS display has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and is capable of refresh rates up to 160Hz.

As you’d expect for a gaming monitor, this has AMD Freesync, but it is the premium version and has GSync support.

REDMAGIC Screen display

What makes this superior to many other monitors on the market is uses a full array of 2000 mini-LEDs with 1152 lighting partitions in comparison to the edge-lit displays you find with most affordable gaming monitors.

This allows the monitor to have a peak brightness of 1300 nits and is certified as HDR 1000. The monitor supports 1.07 billion colours, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and has:

  • 99% Adobe RGB
  • 99% SRGB
  • 99% DCI-P3 (tolerance -2%)

The monitor is equipped with 2xHDMI 2.1, a single Display Port 1.4 and a USB-C with 90W power delivery and data transmission. I assume you will be able to plug the new Redmagic 8 Pro in to the USB-C port and play mobile games in desktop mode.

Connect

The monitor also has 2xUSB-A 3.0 ports, a single USB-B and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The monitor itself is powered with a 240W external power supply.

There are additional gaming features, including the ability to monitor frame rates while playing on the monitor with a real-time refresh rate display and a gaming assist feature with crosshair.

Overall, this should be one of the best 27-inch monitors on the market, and it will be suitable for PC gaming and 4K120Hz gaming with the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The monitor will be available for pre-order from April 3rd, 2023 and for purchase from April 6th, 2023 at official website, redmagic.gg, starting availability in North America.

I have not been provided prices yet, but I’d expect this to be very expensive.

There are not many monitors on the market with this spec, the closest I can find is the Innocn 27M2U MiniLed monitor, which costs about $800. It might actually be the same hardware. However, I can’t find this available anywhere currently.
