There is some big news in the world of smart homes today. Matter has finally launched. Announced on 18 December 2019, Matter aims to reduce fragmentation across different vendors and achieve interoperability among smart home devices and Internet of things (IoT) platforms from different providers.
This standard is backed by a group consisting of Amazon, Apple, Google, and the Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance).
We will start to see a lot of products roll out with this standard, and over the next few years, smart home devices should become easier to manage in a unified environment.
Nanoleaf is one of the first companies to launch Matter-compatible products.
They have launched new smart Bulbs & Lightstrips in the Essentials line consisting of A19, GU10, BR30 Bulbs and a Lightstrip
The new Matter-compatible additions to the Essentials line offer a full suite of lighting products to illuminate your entire home with easy controls and RGBW capabilities. Offering 16M+ colour options as well as ultra-bright tunable whites (with colour temperatures ranging from 2700-6500K), the Bulbs and Lightstrip can also play dynamic colour-changing lighting Scenes which are fully customizable with the Nanoleaf App.
Control the lights with your preferred app or voice assistant, via Matter’s Multi-Admin capabilities, and set Schedules for automations throughout the day, personalizing your lighting needs for your living room, bedroom, kitchen, office space and more.
Nanoleaf is also set to unveil a number of new Matter-compatible products at CES 2023, which will help to enable even more seamless lighting automation in the home.
