The Huawei Nova 5i Pro has finally launched in China for 2,199 Yuan (£259) this phone features the latest HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset from Huawei and the phone will likely land in the UK as the Mate 30 Lite.

Assuming things pan out like last year, Huawei will launch the Mate 30 Lite at IFA as part of their Kirin 985/990 announcement.

The rear of the phone looks very similar to the Mate 20 Pro using the same attractive Emerald Green colour and the square centrally located camera module.

The 6.26-inch display with punch-hole design offers 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution. The smartphone that boasts a high screen specs offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Kirin 810 will be the successor to the superb Kirin 710 of last year and is built on the 7nm fabrication process. It features two high-performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.27GHz and six smaller ARM Cortex-A55 cores ticking at 1.88GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G52 MP6.

As far as the GPU is concerned, Huawei promises around 162% better performance over the last generation found in the Kirin 710.

Compared to its competitor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, the Kirin 810 promises 11% better single-core and 13% better multi-core performance. GPU-wise, the Mali-G52 MP6 should outperform the Adreno 618 in the SD730 with up to 44% higher frame rates.

The Kirin 810’s hidden weapon is the DaVinci NPU based on the Rubik’s Cube Quantitative Stereo Arithmetic Unit capable of outperforming the Snapdragon 855 in AI-related tasks.

Moving on to the camera, the phone has a quad-camera setup placed on the backside of the phone and features an f/1.8 aperture 48-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, a dedicated macro camera and another 2-megapixel lens for adding depth effects.

The punch-hole present on the screen is the home for f/2.0 aperture 32-megapixel selfie camera. The front and rear cameras are equipped with 4-in-1 pixel binning technology for brighter shots in low-light scenarios.

The Nova 5i Pro has a large 4,000mAh battery. It carries support for 22.5W fast charging through USB-C. The other features available on the smartphone include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

Memory and storage configurations start at 6 GB RAM + 128 GB and go up to 8 GB RAM + 256 GB.

The phone will be available in China from 2nd of August and I would expect the Mate 30 Lite will land around the 9th of September
