This will be a bit of a short review. Recently I gave a glowing review of the Eufy Security Dual Camera Video Doorbell, and I was a big fan of the Video Doorbell 2K I reviewed two years ago.
When I did the Video Doorbell 2K review, Eufy didn’t sell additional chimes. You had a choice of the doorbell with a HomeBase or one that has a Chime included. The HomeBase works as a chime, and Eufy can use Amazon Echo devices as chimes too, which is what I have always used.
However, I sometimes find that the Alexa alerts don’t always come through in a timely manner. This seems to affect all brands. It may only be a few seconds lag, but it can mean you end up chasing the postman down the street if you don’t respond fast enough.
The HomeBase is located in my living room which is equidistant between the doorbell and my Eufy Security Floodlight Cam 2 Pro. However, if I am in my office with music on, I can’t hear it. My Echo Show 8 normally does a good job of alerting me, but I also wanted a chime for the hallway, so we can hear it across all our upstairs rooms.

eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime, Add-on Chime for... | £37.99 | Buy on Amazon |
Design & Features
- Never Miss a Visitor – Play ringtones at multiple locations simultaneously.
- Official Accessory – Works with eufy Security Video Doorbell 2K (Battery Powered) and Dual Camera Video Doorbell
- Customize Your Ring – 8 fun ringtones to choose from.
- Adjustable Volume – Choose from 3 volume levels.
- Requires eufyBase 2 – Only works with eufy eufyBase 2.
Unlike competing brand chimes, the Eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime comes in two parts. The chime itself but also a USB dongle. The dongle plugs into the back of the eufyBase/HomeBase 2.
The reason for this is that Eufy Security products don’t connect directly to your WiFi. It instead uses its own hidden WiFi network, which seems to offer better performance than competing brands that connect directly to your WiFi (assuming good placement of the HomeBase).
The issue here is that it limits you to just one extra chime, whereas, with Ring, I could have as many as I wanted.
Set-Up – Only works with HomeBase 2 and works with Dual Camera Video Doorbell
Set up is easy and takes a few seconds. From the app, go to the doorbell settings, select Indoor Chime and Eufy Doorbell Chime. This will then provide you step by step instructions.
Basically, you just need to plug the USB dongle into the back of the HomeBase, then plug your chime in, hold the sync button for a few seconds and wait for them to pair. You can control the volume of the chime using the buttons on the chime.
Performance
The chime works as expected. There is no perceivable delay between the HomeBase and the chime ringing.
The default tone didn’t match the HomeBase, and I thought the volume was a bit low in its default state. You can alter both of these using the buttons on the side of the chime. There are only 3 volume settings, but I found the top setting loud enough.

eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime, Add-on Chime for... | £37.99 | Buy on Amazon | ||
Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Compact Bluetooth Speaker with Alexa -... | Buy on Amazon |
The eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime is priced at £35.99 and appears to have been this price for all the time it has been on Amazon.
Servers Direct sell the chime for a bit less at £24.98 but with £4.16 delivery.
You can use an Amazon Echo Dot as a chime, and these cost £22 for the 3rd gen or £25 for a 4th gen.
I thought the Eufy Chime felt overpriced, but perhaps not. To provide some context for pricing, competing brand chimes are priced as:
- All-new Ring Chime: £30
- All-new Ring Chime Pro: £50
- Arlo Smart Chime: £60
- Arlo Chime 2: £45
Overall
The Eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime is not a very exciting product, but it works well and achieves what I wanted. The Video Doorbell 2K + HomeBase is just £129 currently, so the £35 price seems a bit steep in comparison.
Most people should be able to get away with using just the HomeBase 2 and perhaps some Echo Dots. If you have a larger house and want to make sure alerts come through as quickly as possible, then this is well worth considering.
Eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime Review
Summary
The Eufy Security Video Doorbell Chime does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is easy to set up and the speed and reliability of alerts seem to be better than the more affordable Amazon Echo Dot.
