Last year, Acer launched its first graphics cards, choosing to go with the Intel Arc A750 and A770 GPUs. The Acer Predator BiFrost Intel Arc A770 received favourable reviews, impressing many for a first attempt at manufacturing GPUs, including my own review.
Acer has since expanded its GPU lineup to include AMD Radeon RX 7000 series cards and several Nvidia models, notably the RTX 4070 Twin Edge OC 12 GB and RTX 4080 Trinity OC 16GB.
The Acer Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7600 OC is positioned on the more affordable end of the spectrum. This review aims to evaluate its performance, build quality, cooling efficiency, and overall value proposition.

Unboxing / Build Quality
Acer has opted for a relatively understated design with the Predator BiFrost RX 7600 OC. The card features a black and silver colour scheme, which should blend well with most PC builds. The dual-fan cooling solution is an interesting choice, combining a traditional axial fan with a blower-style fan. This hybrid approach aims to balance cooling performance with noise levels.
The card’s build quality appears solid, with a metal backplate adding rigidity and potentially aiding in heat dissipation. At 267mm in length, it should fit comfortably in most mid-tower cases, though it’s always wise to double-check your case specifications before purchase.

These results show that the RX 7600 OC performs well for its class, though it falls behind the more powerful Arc A770 and RTX 4060 in most tests. The card shows particular strength in the Fire Strike tests, which are more representative of traditional rasterization performance.The lower scores in Port Royal and Speed Way are expected, as these tests focus heavily on ray tracing performance, an area where AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, while improved, still lags behind Nvidia’s offerings.

FSR 3 and Frame Generation
AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology, now in its third iteration, is supported by the RX 7600. FSR 3 includes frame generation technology, similar to Nvidia’s DLSS 3. This can potentially boost framerates significantly in supported games, though the list of titles supporting FSR 3 is currently limited compared to DLSS.
The effectiveness of FSR 3 can vary depending on the game and settings used. In general, it can provide a substantial performance uplift, particularly at higher resolutions or when enabling ray tracing features. However, as with all upscaling and frame generation technologies, there can be some trade-offs in image quality or responsiveness.
Gaming Performance
Beyond benchmarks, I have been using the GPU in my gaming rig for the past couple of weeks. I haven’t had much time to game the past couple of years, so I appreciate the opportunity to catch up on things in the name of work.
I have predominately been playing Starfield and Cyberpunk and have been happy with the overall performance. One minor issue was when trying to dial up the resolution to 4K, the game did crash out a few times, and I ended up settling on 1440P.
Noise, Temperature & Power Consumption
In idle conditions, the BiFrost Radeon RX 7600 OC draws approximately 13.85W, which is higher than some competing Nvidia cards. Under load, power consumption peaks at around 166W, with the total system draw exceeding 500W. These figures are within the expected ranges for a card of this class.
Using HWMonitor, the GPU’s temperature reached slightly over 86°C during intensive usage. While this is within acceptable limits, it is higher than some other cards in the same performance bracket, suggesting room for improvement in cooling efficiency.

The Acer Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7600 OC has an RRP of £330. There are not many places selling in the UK and Acer still list it at £330. However, Currys have it for £270, which I think is the correct pricing for this.
US buyers get a better deal; this has been available for $260-$270 regularly on Amazon.com.
Looking on Scan, they have AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics cards priced from £260 to £292.99.
The Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC is also £270 and has the same specs but uses a tri-fan design.
Then the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card with 16GB of GDDR6 is priced from £310 to £377.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 is available from £270 to £360, and the cheapest GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB GPU I can find is the Palit NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti StormX, priced at £360.
The Acer Predator BiFrost Intel Arc A770 I previously reviewed had an RRP of £400 and is currently available for around £360.
Verdict
