I reviewed the Meaco MeacoFan Sefte 10″ Table Air Circulator and loved it. It is one of the quietest fans I have reviewed, which is something essential for me when using a fan in the bedroom to help me sleep, and I continue to use it because of this.
Meaco has recently launched the Meaco Sefte 8” fan, which isn’t just a smaller version of the 10” model. This has a rechargeable and replaceable battery with a run time of up to 17 hours, giving you much more flexibility on where you use the fan.

The remote control is compact but functional, and the inclusion of app-based control is a welcome addition for those who prefer to manage devices from their phone. The overall build quality is solid, with no rattles or loose parts.
At 2.3 kg, it is light enough to move between rooms, and the absence of a trailing cable when running on battery power adds to its flexibility. The handle is comfortable to grip, and the base is weighted to prevent accidental tipping.

Fan Performance and Fan Noise
The Sefte 8″ delivers effective airflow for its size. The deep air circulator head is capable of projecting a focused stream of air across a room, and the oscillation feature enables both targeted and whole-room cooling. The airflow can be directed manually up to 65° vertically, and automatically up to 70° horizontally.
I have ASD/ADHD and struggle with sleep a lot. I am sensitive to light, heat, and sound.
While I overheat easily, I can also get cold reasonably easily and find that I only need a gentle fan breeze at night to regulate my temperature on particularly hot days.
Fan noise is one of my biggest annoyances, in particular anything that is high-pitched and/or inconsistent.
The Ansio 9-blade 26-speed Pedestal Fan was my bedroom fan, and while it does run exceptionally quiet at level 1 and 2, there is a faint grinding noise from the bearings which drives me nuts.
The MeacoFan Sefte 10″ was louder than the Ansio, but it had a smoother sound, and the noise it did make was a tolerable, consistent, low-frequency whoosh of air.
Smaller fans inevitably run louder and at a higher pitch. So, I was impressed with this when it ran both quietly and with a low-pitched, consistent noise. Predicatively, it is louder than the 10” model and doesn’t move as much air.
At level 1, it is barely audible in my office, even when sitting on my desk next to me, it is perfect for this scenario as you get a pleasant, gentle breeze without the annoying fan noise. In my bedroom at night, it was more audible, and the pitch was higher than the 10”, so not ideal, but I was able to position it better due to the lack of power cable and had a reasonably good night’s sleep on the hottest day of the year.
Once you get to level 4, it moves a decent amount of air and is effective at close range while remaining relatively quiet.
Battery Life and Charging
The standout feature of this fan is that it has a rechargeable battery, allowing you to use it wherever you want, without the need to plug it in.
Like all portable electronics, the claimed battery life is a best case scenario, but Meaco do provide a handy table of expected run time based on settings:

I have not timed it, but I have run the fan on battery for a full day in the office at fan speed 5.
My biggest criticism of this fan by far is the fact that it uses a DC barrel port for charging rather than USB-C. I have this criticism for most electronics, but I think it is particularly true here.
I can’t fathom why Meaco would have a portable rechargeable fan that is then charged with a barrel port. If this had USB-C, I could run it off my UGREEN 500W 6-Port GaN Fast Charger that is on my desk, or one of the many power banks I own, allowing me to run it for longer at higher speeds.
The user-replaceable battery is a positive feature, supporting longer product life and reducing waste. Spare batteries can be purchased separately, allowing users to swap out batteries as needed.

Shark has the FlexBreeze HydroGo Misting Fan FA050UK which has an RRP of £130 but is available for £100. This also has a built in misting feature for additional cooling. The design is less attractive but more practical. While this may look preferable due to the misting features, reviews online say it runs at 46 dB on the lowest setting, which is substantially louder than the Meaco.
There is also the Shark FlexBreeze TableMate at £100, which seems to be almost identical, but this lacks the misting feature (but an attachment is sold separately).
As you’d expect, there are plenty of alternatives on Amazon that are much cheaper, and they will likely be adequate if you are less fussy about fan noise and appearance.
One example is the Morphy Richards Airflex for just £40. It is a smaller 6-inch fan with just three fan speeds, so it is likely to be louder, but it is inexpensive and well-reviewed.
Overall
In general, I love the MeacoFan Sefte 8” fan. While a smaller fan wouldn’t usually be something I go for, the battery and relatively quiet operation make this ideal for a variety of situations and caters well for my annoying sound and heat sensitivity quirks.
It doesn’t replace my other fans but complements them. The portable nature allows me to place it in better spots that would be awkward for a mains-powered fan. I found it handy to have under my desk, blowing air onto my legs on the recent, painfully hot days, and having it under my desk reduced the perceived noise. Similarly, I was able to place it in a more optimised location in my bedroom, far enough away from me to reduce the audible noise. Still, I positioned well enough that I get a gentle breeze across me when I sleep.
