Yesterday, Xiaomi announced their latest phones, the Xiaomi 11T and the 11T Pro.
They both look amazing, the Xiaomi 11T Pro is just £599 but includes the flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, a 120Hz AMOLED display, 108MP camera, 5000mAh battery, and it is the first phone to launch in the west that features 120W charging. That means, with the bundled charger, you can go from flat to full in just 17 mins.

Mediatek Dimensity 1200 AI vs Ultra – Mediatek 5G Open Resource Architecture
I am in the middle of writing my OnePlus Nord 2 review, so the Xiaomi 11T is what caught my eye for comparison. This is the second phone to launch in the UK with one of the modified Mediatek Dimensity 1200 chipsets. While the Nord 2 has the AI customisation, Xiaomi has appended Ultra to the end of the chipset name.
Xiaomi haven’t said much about the Ultra part of the chipset, but Mediatek provides manufacturers an element of customisation through their 5G Open Resource Architecture.
Xiaomi state the chipset goes up to 3.0Ghz, which is what the normal Mediatek Dimensity 1200 can do, but the name would imply some sort of performance boost over the standard model. We will just have to wait and see if this makes any difference in the overall performance of the Mediatek Dimensity 1200. I don’t have a review sample coming, so there is no testing planned from myself at the moment.

OnePlus Nord 2 5G (UK) - 8GB RAM 128GB SIM Free Smartphone... | £219.00 | Buy on Amazon |
The Xiaomi 11T launches for £100 more than the Nord 2 at £499 vs £399, so you need to take this into consideration for my comparison. The OnePlus Nord 2 is available now from Amazon, you will have to wait a little while for the Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi 11T Pro is another £100, so £599. While this is an amazing price, I am not entirely sure it is worth it for the Snapdragon 888 (due to its battery demands) and 120W charging (which I would love, but rarely actually make use of).
Xiaomi 11T vs OnePlus Nord 2 Specification
Display
The Xiaomi is a bit larger with 6.67 inch 2400×1080 AMOLED display and it runs faster at 120Hz.
The OnePlus is a little smaller, which many prefer, at 6.43” AMOLED running at 90Hz 2400×1080.
Both phones have a flat display with a punch hole.
Oddly, Xiaomi don’t have the fingerprint scanner under the display, it is instead on the power button.
Memory / Storage
Both phones have the same base memory and storage options with 8GB and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Camera
The Xiaomi 11T has the same spec camera as the Pro model, and it is a little more well rounded than the OnePlus, with:
- 108 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.52″, 0.7µm, PDAF
- 8 MP, f/2.2, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/4″, 1.12µm
- 5 MP, f/2.4, 50mm (telephoto macro), 1/5.0″, 1.12µm, AF
- 16 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.06″, 1.0µm Selfie
The OnePlus Nord 2 has:
- 50 MP, f/1.9, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS
- 8 MP, f/2.3, 119˚ (ultrawide)
- 2 MP, f/2.4, (monochrome)
- 32 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/2.8″, 0.8µm, Selfie
I can’t say if the 108MP Samsung sensor on the Xiaomi will be better than the 50 MP Sony IMX766, but both phones offer a huge camera spec for phones under £500. I have been particularily impressed with the OnePlus Nord 2 camera.
Battery / Charging
The Xiaomi 11T has a larger battery at 5000mAh, which is 11% larger than the 4500mAh on the OnePlus Nord 2. I am happy with the OnePlus battery but the bigger the better for me.
The Xiaomi 11T has fractionally faster charging at 67W vs 65W, but Xiaomi also use power delivery as their charging standard, so the phone should have compatible with 3rd party chargers.
Overall
Factoring in the £100 price difference, it is a close call and both phones are an amazing buy. I think the Mediatek Dimensity 1200 offers a superb balance of performance and affordability.
Xiaomi are now also committing to three years worth of updates for their phones, so this should also be considered when deciding which is best.
