TerraMaster is on a roll with launching new NAS devices recently.
The new U8-450 looks impressive, being an 8-bay rackmount unit powered by the efficient Atom C3558R Quad-core 2.4GHz CPU and paired with 8GB RAM DDR4 (expandable up to 32GB).
One of the highlights for me is the inclusion of dual SFP+ 10Gb Ethernet Ports, or if you need to use RJ45 there are dual 2.5GbE Ports.
For improved performance, there are two built-in M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots which support SSD cache acceleration.
The U8-450 adopts 2U Rackmount case with a depth of only 384mm (15.1 inches) and weighs 6.9kgs, which saves a lot of space.
Like the other TerraMaster NAS devices, this runs TerraMaster OS, which is a decent NAS OS that has been improving over time to compete with the market leader Synology. It has some useful features, such as TRAID , which is a flexible disk array management tool developed by TerraMaster. It has features such as the automatic combination of disk space, hard disk failure redundancy protection, and automatic capacity expansion.
It is also normally possible to install Unraid or TrueNAS as an alternative OS.
The TerraMaster is available to buy now from Amazon. In the UK, this is priced at £1100, but there is also a £99 delivery charge.
