I reviewed the Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro back in 2021 and loved them. However, I grew frustrated with the design, as I found they would fall out of my ears relatively easily.
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro was launched early last year, and I loved these again, but some people found them a bit bright.
The Soundcore Liberty 4 NC was launched in mid-last year. Even though these were cheaper, they became my go-to earbuds. I enjoyed the warm sound profile, the ANC was superb, and the fit was perfect.
Recently, Anker launched the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro, which features a new smart case that allows you to customise the ANC directly from the case itself and get a charge status.

Intuitive Touch Controls
The Liberty 4 Pro earbuds feature touch-sensitive controls, allowing users to adjust noise cancellation settings directly. The touch bar on the case lets you fine-tune noise-cancelling levels with a simple swipe, providing easy access to preferred settings at any time.
High-Fidelity Sound Quality
Designed for premium sound, the earbuds incorporate an advanced ACAA (Astria Coaxial Acoustic Architecture) system. With a 10.5mm bass driver, titanium-coated tweeter, and digital crossover technology, the earbuds produce a full-bodied, high-resolution sound. This design ensures a detailed listening experience, rich in nuance and clarity.
Fast Charging and Extended Battery Life
The Liberty 4 Pro earbuds support rapid charging through the 5C battery, charging twice as fast as previous models. A 5-minute quick charge offers up to 4 hours of playtime, with up to 10 hours available on a full charge. The charging case extends battery life to a total of 40 hours, ensuring prolonged use without frequent recharging.
AI-Enhanced Call Quality with Six Microphones
Each earbud is equipped with three microphones and a noise reduction algorithm to enhance call clarity. In addition, a wind noise reduction feature ensures clear communication, even in challenging conditions, making the earbuds suitable for use in a variety of environments.
Earbuds Design & Fit
The earbuds maintain a stem design, which I find more practical for handling than the previous Liberty 3 Pro.
The stem has touch controls with a combination of press controls and slide controls.
The slide controls work down the recess section of the stem, sliding up or down to control the volume. However, the press functions can be customised with options for single, double, triple, and long press.
With an IPX5 water resistance rating, these earbuds offer adequate protection against water ingress. I have used them when running in the rain and for sweaty gym workouts without issue.
They then come with six different ear tip sizes to accommodate various ear shapes. The earbuds’ housing has been redesigned with a flatter shape, making it easier to achieve a secure fit. The narrower nozzles also allow for compatibility with a wider range of aftermarket ear tips, offering more customisation options than the Liberty 4 NC.
I have been happy with the fit of all the Liberty 4 models they all stay in my ears during vigorous workouts with little adjustment needed.
Case Design & Features
The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro’s case has had a significant design change with a new display and touch control function.
This touch bar allows users to adjust noise cancellation settings and check battery levels directly from the case, which adds an element of convenience often missing in true wireless earbuds.
Within the settings, you can add additional functionality, such as a camera shutter or checking the atmospheric pressure.
The build quality of the case is sturdy, and it maintains a premium look. However, its increased size means it is less pocket-friendly, which could be a downside for some users who prefer a more compact carry option.
As you’d expect for a flagship pair of earbuds, these can charge via USB-C and wireless.
Soundcore App
Anker’s Soundcore app offers a range of customisation options, enhancing the overall experience of using the Liberty 4 Pro. From adjusting equaliser settings to toggling features like 360° Spatial Audio and adaptive noise cancellation, the app ensures users have full control over their listening experience. The app also offers hearing tests that adjust the sound profile based on individual hearing, which is a nice touch for personalisation.
One area of criticism is the somewhat cluttered user interface. The number of options presented may make it slightly overwhelming for new users.
That being said, I love the Soundcore for the range of customisation you have.

The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro impresses with its dual-driver setup, consisting of a 10.5mm bass driver and a titanium-coated tweeter.
The audio quality is rich and detailed, making it suitable for a wide range of genres. The bass is powerful without being overwhelming, the mids are clear, and the highs are sharp but not fatiguing. I think this balanced sound profile will appeal to most users who want clarity across the spectrum without excessive emphasis on any particular frequency range.
The enhanced ACAA (Astria Coaxial Acoustic Architecture) plays a key role in delivering consistent audio quality, ensuring that both drivers work in harmony. The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro also supports LDAC, which means users with compatible devices can enjoy high-resolution audio, further enhancing the listening experience. However, the inclusion of LDAC comes at the cost of increased battery usage, which is something to consider when using this feature.
For those that prefer a specific sound signature, perhaps warmer or a bit more neutral, you can use the EQ on the Soundcore app to tailor to your preference.

Spatial Audio
One of the interesting features of the Liberty 4 Pro is its 360° Spatial Audio. It adds an immersive quality to the listening experience, especially when watching films or playing games. The feature works well, particularly for content that supports spatial sound, but it may not be to everyone’s taste for music, where it can sometimes create an unnatural soundstage.
The head-tracking functionality is a fun addition that keeps the soundstage consistent when you move your head, but it is more of a novelty than a practical feature. For most users, this feature will be enjoyed occasionally rather than being a daily-use element.
Active Noice Cancellation
The Liberty 4 Pro employs seven sensors for noise cancellation, including six sound sensors and one barometric pressure sensor. The ANC performance proves effective at reducing low-frequency noise, though some users note it may not match the absolute top-tier offerings from Sony or Apple.
The system offers ten levels of adjustment between full transparency and maximum noise cancellation, allowing users to fine-tune their listening experience.
An additional useful feature, which I have not been able to test yet, is the airplane mode. This mode monitors the atmospheric pressure and adjusts the ANC accordingly.
Just like my past reviews, I dialled up my Edifier S3000 Pro speakers up to 80 and played an airplane cabin white noise track. At this volume, it is annoyingly loud and can be heard throughout my house.
Performance is excellent for a pair of £130 earbuds. They block out almost all of the low end while leaving some of the high-frequency hissing.
Call Quality
The six-microphone array delivers clear voice pickup in ideal conditions. The system handles wind noise and background sounds reasonably well, though performance may decrease in particularly noisy environments.
Battery Life
Battery performance includes:
- 10 hours of playback per charge with ANC off
- 40 hours total with the charging case
- 5-minute quick charge providing 4 hours of playback
In real life, I was able to get 6 hours with ANC enabled using SBC.
Price and Alternative Options
The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro has launched for £130, which is £10 cheaper than the launch price of the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro and Soundcore Liberty 4.
The Soundcore Liberty 4 NC launched for the bargain price of £80.
At the time of writing, you can get the Soundcore Liberty 4 for £125 or the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC for £64.
Overall
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro offers welcome, but incremental improvements from the Soundcore Liberty 4. The dual-driver setup and support for LDAC deliver excellent audio quality, while the inclusion of spatial audio and adaptive ANC add to its versatility. The case design, with its built-in touch bar, is innovative but I found it only has limited use. It is nice to be able to see the battery life as you get them out of the case, though.
If you are seeking a pair of true wireless earbuds that strike a balance between price and performance, the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro are well worth considering. I think the £100-£150 price point is particularly competitive, but these earbuds compete well with the best options out there.
