Unboxing / Design / Fit
The Earfun Air Pro 4 comes in a compact box that includes the earbuds, charging case, USB-C charging cable, and a selection of ear tips in different sizes. The packaging is minimal and eco-friendly, which is a positive point for environmentally conscious consumers.
The design of the Air Pro 4 is a bit more premium looking than previous Earfun earbuds I have received. The earbuds are available in black or white, offering a neutral aesthetic that should appeal to most users. The charging case is compact and pocketable, with a matte finish that resists fingerprints.
The touch controls on the earbuds are responsive and easy to use, allowing for control of playback, volume, and ANC modes without reaching for your phone. However, some users may find the touch-sensitive areas a bit small, potentially leading to accidental touches when adjusting the earbuds.
In terms of fit, the Air Pro 4 is designed to be comfortable for extended wear. The earbuds are lightweight, and the inclusion of multiple ear tip sizes helps ensure a secure fit for most ear shapes. I have used these earbuds on long runs and in the gym and I have had no issues with them falling out or needing regular adjustments.

- Touch Control Customisation: The app allows for remapping of touch controls, giving users the flexibility to assign preferred functions to different touch gestures.
- Firmware Updates: The app facilitates easy firmware updates, ensuring the earbuds stay up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.
- Audio Settings: You can adjust the audio quality with support for LDAC, AptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless.
While the app offers a good range of features, its user interface could be more intuitive. Some users may find the layout a bit cluttered, and navigating between different sections of the app can be slightly confusing at first. However, once familiar with the layout, the app proves to be a valuable tool for getting the most out of the Air Pro 4.
Sound Quality
The sound quality of the Earfun Air Pro 4 is impressive, especially considering their price point. The 10mm composite dynamic drivers deliver a well-balanced sound signature that should please a wide range of listeners.
The bass response is punchy and well-defined, providing a solid foundation for most genres of music without overpowering the mids and highs. Bass-heavy tracks have sufficient impact, but the low end remains controlled and doesn’t muddy the overall sound.
The midrange is clear and detailed, with vocals and instruments coming through with good separation and clarity. There’s a slight emphasis on the upper mids, which adds presence to vocals and lead instruments, but it’s not pushed to the point of harshness.
High frequencies are well-extended, providing good detail and air to the sound. Cymbals and other high-frequency elements are crisp without becoming sibilant or fatiguing during extended listening sessions.
The soundstage is reasonably wide for in-ear headphones, providing a sense of space and dimensionality to the music. Instrument separation is good, allowing you to pick out individual elements in complex mixes.
The support for high-resolution codecs like aptX Adaptive and LDAC is a significant advantage for the Air Pro 4. When paired with a compatible device and high-quality audio source, these earbuds can deliver a level of detail and clarity that’s uncommon in this price range.
While LDAC can support higher quality than aptX Adaptive, it is possible that you will get a less stable connection. With LDAC enabled you also have to disable multi-point connectivity. While I can tell a slight difference in quality with LDAC, I personally find it better to stick with aptX Adaptive for a more stable connection and the multipoint connectivity.
If the overall sound profile isn’t to your tastes, you can adjust the sound using the EQ settings in the EarFun app. This allows users to adjust the sound to their preferences or to optimise it for different genres of music. EarFun has a large number of presets which I find useful as it is more user friendly than trying to tweak the EQ manually.
While the Air Pro 4 performs well across various genres, they particularly excel with pop, rock, and electronic music. The balanced sound signature and punchy bass make these genres come alive, while the clear mids and detailed highs ensure that acoustic and classical music are also well-represented.
Overall, I’d say the sound quality is superb for eabuds at this price point. I’d say they are about as good as my Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC which have been my go-to earbuds for the past year.
Active Noise Cancelling
The QuietSmart 3.0 Adaptive Noise Cancellation in the Earfun Air Pro 4 claims to offer up to 50 dB of noise reduction, which is impressive on paper.
In practice, the ANC performance is good, but not class-leading.
For my test, I dialled up my Edifier S3000 Pro speakers up to 80 and played an airplane cabin white noise track. At this volume, it is annoyingly loud and can be heard throughout my house.
It’s effective at reducing low-frequency drone of the engine with only some of the rumble of the noise being felt. It then leaves quite a lot of the upper high end which is mildly annoying but it reduces the noise enough so that I can listen to music or movies with east.
The adaptive nature of the ANC system is a nice touch. It can automatically adjust the level of noise cancellation based on your environment, which is useful when moving between different noise levels.
For real life testing the ANC system again shows its limitations is in dealing with higher-frequency noises. It’s less effective at blocking out human voices or sudden, sharp sounds. This is common for ANC systems in this price range, but it’s worth noting for those who might be expecting performance on par with premium models from Sony or Bose.
The ambient mode, which allows external sounds to pass through, works well. It provides a natural-sounding pass-through that doesn’t overly amplify ambient sounds, making it useful for quick conversations or staying aware of your surroundings.
One minor issue with the ANC is a slight change in sound signature when it’s activated. There’s a subtle boost to the bass and a slight reduction in the upper mids and treble. While not dramatic, discerning listeners may notice this difference.
Battery Life
The battery life of the Earfun Air Pro 4 is one of its strongest features. With ANC turned off, the earbuds can last up to 11 hours on a single charge, which is impressive for true wireless earbuds. Even with ANC activated, you can expect around 7.5 hours of playback time.
The charging case provides an additional 41 hours of battery life, bringing the total up to 52 hours. This means most users will be able to go several days or even weeks between charges of the case, depending on usage patterns.
Fast charging is supported, with a 10-minute charge providing up to 2 hours of playback time. This is particularly useful for those times when you need a quick top-up before heading out.
The case also supports wireless charging, adding convenience for users who have Qi-compatible charging pads.
In real-world use, the battery life largely lives up to Earfun’s claims. However, as with all battery-powered devices, actual performance can vary depending on factors such as volume levels, use of ANC, and environmental conditions and your Bluetooth codec settings. I find that using LDAC can have a significant impact on battery life.

However, the true wireless earbud market is highly competitive, and there are several alternatives worth considering:

The sound quality is a definite highlight, with the 10mm composite drivers delivering a well-balanced and detailed audio experience. The support for high-resolution codecs like aptX Adaptive and LDAC is particularly noteworthy, allowing these earbuds to punch above their weight class in terms of audio fidelity.
The active noise cancellation, while not class-leading, is more than adequate for most everyday situations. It effectively reduces low end hum and I found the performance perfectly acceptable for most scenarios. If you spend a significant amount of time flying, then it may be worth looking for something more premium.
I’d say the main issue these earbuds have is that the Anker Liberty 4 NC are arguably just as good at the time of writing were quite a bit cheaper. My Anker Liberty 4 NC earbuds have just died after a bit over a year of use, so it is possible the build quality has some issues.
Overall, the Earfun Air Pro 4 is superb for the price and gets a strong recommendation from me.
