In three days time Samsung will announce the Galaxy A90 which is shaping up to be a very interesting mid-range phone.
New leaks suggest this could be the first phone to feature an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 7150 chipset. If true, the Snapdragon 7150 will be a successor to the Snapdragon 710 announced last year. It is unlikely the SoC will actually be called 7150. It is likely a codename similar to the Snapdragon 8150 which launched as the SD855
It is worth noting that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 was announced in February so it could be that the SD 7150 is actually this. It is also possible that Qualcomm is launching yet another SoC which would then be the SD715. The SM7150 was leaked several months ago
The Snapdragon 712 announcement was mostly unremarkable, it is almost identical to the SD710 with the exception of slightly higher clocked cores (2.3Ghz instead of 2.2Ghz). Qualcomm did, however, claim lots of advantages including a 10 percent increase in performance over Snapdragon 710.
Moving on from the chipset, the upcoming Galaxy A90 is tipped to feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with the exact same 1080 x 2400 pixels Full HD+ resolution as the recently launched Galaxy A70. Unlike the Galaxy A70, the Galaxy A90 is expected to have a Notch-less Infinity display, made possible by the sliding and rotating camera design. In terms of physical size, the smartphone reportedly measures 165 x 76.5 x 9.0mm and weighs in at 219 grams. For reference, the Galaxy A70 measures 164.3 x 76.7 x 7.9mm.
Sliding 48MP camera
It looks like Samsung could be launching their first phone with some form of slide out or pop out camera, this will allow them to get rid of the notch compeltely.
Te Galaxy A90 will have a 48MP primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. It will also feature an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a ToF sensor.
One of the rumours suggests that the camera will slide and rotate, eliminating the need for a selfie camera
The leak claims the Galaxy A90 will only have a 3700mAh capacity battery with 25W fast charging support.
The phone will be launched in Silver, Black, and Gold colour options. It will feature 128GB of onboard storage and 6GB/8GB of RAM.
The camera and chipset rumours feel a little vague and or questionable. I would suspect the likely scenario is that the 7150 is actually the newly announced SD712. Will the 48MP lens is likely, how it will be implemented is going to be interested, slide out and rotating cameras feels like a big depature from Samsungs usual designs.
