Unboxing / Design
Upon unboxing the QDOS SnapStand, the first thing that strikes you is its compact size. The charger includes a USB-C cable, which is a small advantage over competing options. The device’s foldable design enhances its portability, making it easy to carry in a bag or even a large pocket.
The overall build quality feels good, and there is a decent amount of resistance for the foldable hinges.
The magnetic alignment works seamlessly with MagSafe devices, ensuring that your iPhone snaps into place without any hassle. The LED indicator, which turns blue when charging and red when idle, adds a subtle yet practical touch to the overall design.
One of the standout features of the SnapStand is its adaptability. The charger’s design allows for various viewing angles, making it convenient for video calls, watching content, or simply checking notifications. The inclusion of the iOS 17 nightstand mode is another thoughtful feature, especially for those who use their iPhones as an alarm clock or prefer a quick glance at the time during the night.
Performance
The QDOS SnapStand promises to charge an iPhone at 15W, an Apple Watch at 2.5W, and AirPods at 5W. During testing, the charger delivered on its promise, charging an iPhone 15 Pro Max from 0% to 100% in approximately 3.5 hours. This aligns with the product’s claims and is on par with other wireless chargers in its category.
The Apple Watch and AirPods also charged efficiently, though the Apple Watch’s charging speed of 2.5W could be seen as somewhat slow compared to some other models that offer faster watch charging capabilities.
The magnetic alignment for MagSafe devices is notably strong, holding the iPhone securely in place even when adjusting the viewing angle. This is particularly useful when using the phone in a landscape mode for watching videos or during FaceTime calls. The SnapStand also successfully charged non-Apple devices that support Qi wireless charging, which adds to its versatility, though it is primarily designed for Apple products.
In addition to testing with Apple devices, I was able to charge my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra using the Ringke Fusion MagSafe Magnetic Case. It also works well charging earbuds with QI support. The one caveat is that the design doesn’t always work with different brands. Attempting to charge the Earfun Air Pro 4 with the Samsung in portrait meant I had to adjust the stand to try and squeeze the earbuds on the wireless charging plate.
Price and Alternative Options
The QDOS SnapStand 3-in-1 Wireless Charger is available directly from QDOS for £79.99.
QDOS also has a foldable PowerMag 3-in-1 Wireless Charger for just £60.
There are plenty of alternative options, including several I have personally reviewed:
- Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station
- Price: £100 – Available from Amazon
- Notes: This is foldable and uses Qi2 for 15W wireless charging + faster watch charging.
- ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Watch Wireless Charging Set
- Price: £60 – Available from Amazon
- Notes: This is Qi2 for 15W wireless charging + + faster 5W watch charging.
- ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set
- Price: £100 – Available from Amazon
- Notes: This is the same specification as the above ESR but in a foldable travel design.
- STM Goods ChargeTree Go
- Price: £50 – Available from Amazon
- Notes: This is foldable for convenient transport, but it is not MagSafe compatible (the phone is propped up)
Verdict
The QDOS SnapStand 3-in-1 Wireless Charger is a decent MagSafe 3-in-1 portable wireless charger with a good combination of convenience, portability, and an eco-conscious design. Its compact size and foldable nature make it an excellent choice for those who need a portable charging solution, while its compatibility with MagSafe devices ensures a seamless user experience.
It lacks QI2, which will be beneficial for future Android phones. It is not as affordable as some of the chargers I have reviewed, but it is more affordable than the competing foldable wireless chargers I have tested.
