Battery
The official battery life is stated as 7 hours with the ANC on or 9 hours with the ANC off. The case then provides three full charges giving 28h or 36 hours, depending on ANC. The earbud performance matches the excellent Anker Soundcore Liberty 4, it is also long enough that I haven’t used them in one session long enough for them to die.
If earbuds can comfortably last beyond 5 hours with all the features enabled, I am happy.
You then also have wireless charging. This is a feature I’d expect to see at the original £150 price point, but it is not guaranteed with some brands and is much less common at the current price point.
Price and Alternative Options
The Jabra Elite 5 have an RRP of £150 but has been consistently around £120 since December. More recently they have dropped to £100, which is an absolute bargain.
I recently reviewed the Sony LinkBuds S, which launched at quite a high price of £180, but is currently around £115.
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 are £140, and the Anker Liberty 3 Pro are £110.
An example of what you might expect at the £100 price point is the Nothing Ear (stick). I am sure they sound good, but these lack ANC, wireless charging, are limited to AAC/SBC and have a worse battery.
Overall
At the current price of £100, the Jabra Elite 5 are superb. I find the fit to be outstanding, the sound quality is excellent, and they offer a huge number of features for the price.
I think this new discounted price makes a lot of sense as the £100-150 price point has a lot of amazing choices, and the Jabra Elite 5 will struggle to shine on the higher end of this price point.
Depending on discounted prices, I would say I prefer the Sony LinkBuds S for the sound quality and ANC. For an extra £20 they are well worth it.
However, the Jabra Elite 5 have the advantage for fitness. You have a superior IP rating, a better warranty, and a better fit (for me). These will likely be my go-to earbuds for running and the gym.
