[Update] This is now official. The Huawei P30 Pro New Edition launches in the UK from 3rd June (Silver Frost only), from the Huawei Store and selected operators and retailers (RRP £699). The Huawei P30 Pro New Edition also comes with a free Huawei Watch GT2e, when purchased up to and including the 30th June 2020 (via redemption, T&C apply).
The existing UK model has just 128GB while the New Edition has 256GB storage. I would say the £699 is not worth it vs the £500 you can currently get the older P30 Pro for. However, the Huawei Watch GT2 is worth £159.99 so if you buy on or before 30th June 2020 it is a decent buy.

While the Huawei P40 Pro is an excellent phone, even without Google, Huawei will no doubt be suffering from reduced sales due to the current trade ban with the USA. To make matters worse, it seems that some salespeople are selling the P40 Pro without informing customers about these issues, which inevitably leads to some unhappy buyers.
We have seen Huawei re-use older chipsets and phone designs in the past year in order to bypass these regulations, allowing them to continue using Google Apps. This was true for the Honor 9X and Huawei Nova 9T.
Recently it has been leaked that the company will relaunch the Huawei P30 Pro as a new edition. It had been hoped that Huawei would make some upgrades to the phone, perhaps improving the camera specification and maybe switching to a 90Hz display. Sadly not, this is all but the same. The one change is that there is now an attractive silver frost colour which is similar to the existing P40 Pro.
They have technically reduced the price, dropping it down from €799 to an RRP of €749.00 on the Garman Huawei website. However, you can buy the same spec with 8GB/256GB from Amazon for €668.00, and Huawei was previously selling the P30 Pro for as low as €699.
This also means that the Huawei P30 Pro New Edition is only €50 lower than the standard P40 and €150 lower than the P40 Pro. This, therefore, makes it a difficult decision, the P40 Pro hardware is easily worth the extra €150, but you then either have to not use Google or go through a complex process of installing it.
If you can pick up the Huawei P30 Pro for a decent price, it is still a superb phone for 2020, the camera still competes with most other flagships and performance is superb. There is no 5G of course, but the roll-out of that has been slow. There is a noticeable difference when switching from the P30 POro with a 60Hz screen to the 90Hz of the P40 Pro, but I don’t feel it is as important as some tech fans make out.
