The notch era as we know it may finally be coming to an end. Samsung has recently been showing off their Infinity O concepts and the Samsung Galaxy A8s is the first phone to launch with the new punch hole style display.
The Huawei Nova 4 is the second phone to launch with this design, where the regular and teardrop type notches to go for a punch hole cutout that can accommodate the front camera sensor. This allows the phone to have almost 100% of the notification area available. The punch hole does mean there is no front flash so it is likely the phone will use the screen as some form of flash.
The Huawei Nova 4 will be featuring a 6.4-inch display that supports full HD+ resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels. The hole in the display will allow the phone to support an aspect ratio of 19.25:9.
The phone uses last years top of the range top of the range SoC the Kirin 970 which will likely allow it to achieve a lower price point than Kirin 980 based devices such as the Mate 20 Pro. This will be complemented with 8GB of RAM, and the device will get 128GB of internal storage.
The Huawei Nova 4 is that it will sport a solid 48MP+16MP+2MP triple rear camera. This could make it the first phone on the market with a 48MP sensor and will be the same sensor that is to feature on the up and coming Honow View 20.
Apparently, another lower-priced variant of the Nova 4 will get a 20MP+16MP+2MP rear camera. The front camera on both models, however, will be 25MP. Also, the handset will pack in a nice 3750mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
The phone will come with some attractive colours including a gradient red colour as well as Black, White and Blue.
There is no word on pricing yet but the Nova range of phones don’t traditionally launch in the UK so you would be forced to use an grey import site such as Gear Best.
Gear Best currently have a listing for the Nova 4 here and I would expect it will be available to buy from them within the next few weeks, if not days.
