CES officially starts on the 5th, with many exciting announcements coming the day before. Acer is one of the companies getting some announcements out extra early.
Today they have announced three new updated Chromebooks.
Highlights:

- The Acer Chromebook 315 (CB315-4H/T) expands the company’s extensive collection of large-screen offerings; includes 15.6-inch anti-glare FHD display and numeric keypad
- The Acer Chromebook 314 (CB314-3H/T) is a portable device with a 14-inch FHD display, featuring the latest Intel processors and an OceanGlass Touchpad

Acer Chromebook Spin 513 with MediaTek Kompanio 1380 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c
The most interesting of the three is the new Acer Chromebook Spin 513 with the MediaTek Kompanio 1380. At the time of writing, this chipset has not been announced nor can I find any references to it online. I have an early press release, so it could be inaccurate.
Currently, the Kompanio 1300T is the top tablet chipset from MediaTek which is a 6nm chipset with 4x Cortex-A78 cores plus 4x Cortex-A55 and a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.
If the Kompanio 1380 has a similar specification, it should be a significant upgrade to the existing Acer Spin 513, which uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c with a specification of:
- 8nm
- 2x Kryo 468 Gold (Arm Cortex A76)@ 2.4GHz
- 6x Kryo 468 Silver (Arm Cortex A55) @ 1.8Ghz?
- Qualcomm Adreno 618
The laptop then has a 13.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2256×1504 giving you 18% more vertical resolution than standard aspect ratio. The older Spin 512 used a 13.3″ display with 1920 x 1080.
The laptop has also been upgraded to use the latest WiFi 6 standard but it looks like they have dropped the number of USB ports down to just one USB-C.
Price and Availability
The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CP513-2H) will be available in North America in June 2022 starting at USD 599.99; and in EMEA in April 2022 starting at EUR 649.
UK availability will be in June for a price of £599. The older Qualcomm equipped Spin 513 is available for around £400.
