The Acer Acerpure Cool C2 2-in-1 Smart Air Purifier & Circulator (model AC551-50W) is the first air purifier I have reviewed from Acer.
While Acer may not be well known for air purifiers, they have been expanding in a variety of different niches in recent years, including e-bikes and even a desk bike similar to the Flexispot Sit2Go.
The Acerpure I am reviewing today is an excellent air purifier thanks to its good performance and low upfront price point, but there is an issue with the availability of the HEPA filters in the UK.

Unboxing / Design
Unboxing the device is straightforward, with the main unit, HEPA filter, and power cord included in the package. The filter is easy to install, and the device is ready to use within minutes of unboxing.
The HEPA filter is pre-fitted into the air purifier, but you will need to remove the plastic packaging
Acerpure Life App
The Acerpure Life app, available for both iOS and Android, provides a user-friendly interface for controlling and monitoring the device. The app allows users to adjust purifier and circulator settings, view real-time air quality data, and receive filter replacement reminders.
I had some issues connecting the Acerpure to my network. It is quite likely that it was my network that was causing the issue, but it took a few attempts before it would connect properly.
The app’s interface is intuitive and responsive, making navigating and controlling the device remotely easy. The ability to view air quality data and receive filter replacement reminders is particularly useful for maintaining optimal device performance.
Air Purifier Performance
The air purifier function of the Acerpure 2-in-1 is designed to handle spaces up to 45 m². It employs a 4-in-1 HEPA filter system to effectively capture pollutants. During testing, the purifier performed well in maintaining indoor air quality. Key performance highlights include:
Filtration Efficiency
The HEPA Plus+ filter captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust, pollen, and pet dander. The activated carbon filter effectively removes odours and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
CADR
With a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 307 m³/h, the Acerpure 2-in-1 efficiently circulates and purifies the air in the specified coverage area. It proved capable of significantly reducing airborne contaminants within an hour of operation.
I have used the Acerpure in my office for a couple of weeks and found the air purifier performance to be good. I monitored my air quality with the Airthings View Plus, and the air quality would deteriorate when I made my lunch with the Acerpure ramping up when it detected higher particulate matter levels. The air quality then returned to normal much faster than when I didn’t use an air purifier, and subjectively, it outperformed my Dyson Pure Cool Tower Fan but wasn’t as good as the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4.
Air Circulator Performance
The air circulation feature is an added advantage, especially during warmer months, but the fan is quite small, so it is louder and doesn’t move as much air as some of the pedestal fans I have reviewed, but they cost around the same as the Acerpure and lack air purifying.
The fan has multiple speed settings and an impressive airflow distance of up to 12 meters. This functionality helps distribute purified air more evenly across the room. The swing mode (90° up and down, 80° left and right) enhances air distribution, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Noise Levels
Operating noise is an important factor for air purifiers and fans as they can often be quite intrusive if you are in the same room as the air purifier.
The Acerpure 2-in-1 operates quietly at 25dB on its lowest setting, making it suitable for bedrooms and offices. Even at the highest setting, the noise level of 56dB remains manageable.
With auto mode enabled and the air quality good, the fan and air purifier are barely audible in my office. When it detects increased levels of particulate matter, the air purifier ramps up and does become quite noisy. I’d say it is similar to the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro I have in my office and much less intrusive than the Dyson Pure Cool Tower Fan.
As for the fan, it isn’t as loud as I would expect for such a small fan, and it benefits from 10-speed levels, whereas a cheap fan would often have just three or four levels, which allows it to run slower and quieter.
Replaceable HEPA Filters
The 4-in-1 HEPA filter has an approximate lifespan of 3000 hours, equating to around 125 days if used continuously or 375 days if used for 8 hours daily. Replacement filters are available on Amazon for £55, but very high shipping costs may deter some buyers. Availability of filters varies by region, with better access in Asian markets.
The filter replacement process is simple:
- Turn off and unplug the unit.
- Remove the back panel to access the filter compartment.
- Replace the old filter with a new one.
- Reattach the panel and reset the filter indicator via the control panel or app.
The Singapore Acer store sells the HEPA filter for SGD 68, which works out at around £40.
For context, the HEPA filter for the Blueair Blue Max 3250i is just £35
Price and Alternative Options
The Acerpure Cool 2-in-1 is available on Amazon for just £112. Appliances Direct has it for just £89
The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro has an RRP of £300 but is available for £200.
The Blueair Blue Max 3250i has a CADR of 239 m³/h but lacks an air circulator fan and is priced at £139
Verdict
The Acerpure 2-in-1 Air Circulator and Purifier (AC551-50W) is an excellent value-for-money device that effectively combines air purification and circulation functions. Its performance is comparable to higher-priced competitors, and its sleek design and user-friendly app make it a compelling choice for many users.
However, the limited availability and high cost of replacement HEPA filters in the UK market may be a concern for some potential buyers. If filter accessibility and affordability are not an issue in your region, the Acerpure 2-in-1 is a strong recommendation.
For UK-based consumers, the decision between the Acerpure 2-in-1 and alternatives like the Blueair Blue Max 3250i will largely depend on the importance of the air circulator function and the willingness to invest in more expensive replacement filters.

Summary
The Acerpure 2-in-1 Air Circulator and Purifier (AC551-50W) is a well-designed, high-performing device that offers excellent value for money. Its unique combination of air purification and circulation functions sets it apart from many competitors. However, potential buyers should carefully consider the long-term costs associated with replacement filters and their availability in their region before making a purchase decision.
