Spigen Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 Case Review: Ultra Hybrid Zero One, Thin Fit Pro & Thin Fit P Case

To compliment my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 review, I have also reviewed the Samsung Slim S Pen Case and the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Case.

The Spigen Slim Armor Pro Case is the case I have chosen to use as my full-time case as it provides the most protection, and I am a bit paranoid about damaging an £1800 phone.

For all the Spigen cases, they are relatively easy to install. They all have adhesives for the front, some also include them for the back section of the case, and they all include spare adhesive strips, so the overall package is a bit better than the official cases from Samsung.

This case focuses on aesthetics with a fake see-through teardown design. I think you would have to be unlucky to drop it directly on the hinge and do any damage. The hinge itself feels quite durable too, but the exposed nature may mean it is prone to scratches.

The lack of hinge protection helps keep the bulk down.

Like all the Spigen cases, a raised lip runs around the display, so you should have a good level of protection if you drop it face-down. The case is also thick enough to sit about flush with the camera bumps, so hopefully, this should avoid any damage if you drop it down with the camera face down.

The overall build quality is good, though the case is a hard plastic, so it doesn’t feel as nice as the Slim Armor Pr or the official Samsung cases.

Price

On Spigen, the Ultra Hybrid Zero One Case retails for $69.99.

In the UK, it is available on Amazon for £36.99 RRP and at the time of writing it was £29.99. In comparison, the S23 model is £20.

Verdict

I like this case as I think it is reasonably priced and provides a different aesthetic from most other cases out there.

It doesn’t provide enough protection for me to use it as my main case, but that’s just personal preference.

Spigen Thin Fit Pro Case For Galaxy Z Fold 5 Review

This case sits somewhere between the Hybrid Zero One and Slim Armor Pro Case. You have the same hard, see-through plastic as the Hybrid Zero One, but without the teardown pattern applied to it.

It then has full hinge protection like the Slim Armor Pro Case.

The hard plastic seems a little bit thicker as well, though I am not sure if it is just the hinge adding weight and making it seem thicker.

Price

On the Spigen website, this has the same $69.99 RRP as the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Zero One.

On Amazon UK, it is priced higher with an RRP of £49.99 and discounted to £39.99.

Verdict

There are some negative reviews of this case on Amazon, criticising the quality and cheap plastic. I’d agree that it is nowhere near as good as the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Case, but that case costs an additional £20.

I suppose if you are spending £1800 on a phone and want good protection, then it would be daft not to get the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Case, but I still think this is a decent case.

Spigen Thin Fit P (Pen Edition) Case For Galaxy Z Fold 5 vs Samsung Slim S Pen Case Review

This case is an alternative to the official Samsung Slim S Pen Case. The case is a bit dull looking, being plain black and has a similar level of protection as the official Samsung Slim S Pen Case. One advantage it does have is the case raises up around the camera bump for slightly better protection.

The big difference is that the S Pen mount is on the side of the case, which adds a good bit of width to the case. It also creates this weird overhang with the front section of the case and the back section, making the side buttons harder to press. I can still use the fingerprint sensor, but it is more obstructed and less user-friendly than it was with a normal case.

The front part of the case does appear to have deeper lips to protect the display. This largely seems to be due to the bulkiness of the pen mount.

The pen slots and clips in reasonably securely, it takes quite a bit of a tug to get it out, but I am not convinced it is any better than the Samsung solution.

Price

The official Samsung Slim S Pen Case costs £62.30 on Amazon, while the Spigen Thin Fit P is £39.99.

The problem is that this lacks the official S Pen that is currently sold for £37.80 on Samsung, which would bring the total price to £77.79.

Verdict

It is a bit hard to recommend this case as I am not convinced that there is anything better about it than the official Samsung Slim S Pen Case, and it costs more due to the expense of buying a pen.

Some people have criticised the official case for losing the pen easily. It is possible that this case will do better. It does take a bit of effort to get the pen out. However, I suspect it wouldn’t be that difficult for something to catch on to the case and it be accidentally ripped out, which is less likely to happen with the Samsung case.

Overall Opinion

I think Spigen has the best range of third party Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 cases. Both for the range of options but also the overall quality of the case, the design and the level of protection they offer.

The cases do come with a premium price tag compared to other options, but I think I’d prefer to stick with Spigen over some of the random brands on Amazon UK.

Personally, while I think it is expensive, the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Case is the best case I have reviewed for the Fold 5 and the case I continue to use.

While I like the other Spigen cases, I think I’d go with the Samsung Galaxy Official Standing Case if I were happy to use a case with slightly less protection.

Placing the cases I have used in order of personal preference, I would say:
