In somewhat of a departure from their usual designs, Samsung has announced one of the most interesting upper mid-range phones of the year.
What was previously used by Chinese brands such as OPPO, Xiaomi, and Vivo, Samsung has ditched the notch and punch hole altogether and developed the A80 with a slider, that then automatically flips the rear camera around. It is both the most quirky and impressive design I have seen for a while and it will no doubt help with sales.
Further adding to its impressive nature is the inclusion of the latest Snapdragon 730G which sits at the top of the upper mid range chipsets with the G denomination being a little faster, geared towards gaming.
So the playful rotating camera, superior selfies and gaming processer clearly aim this at the younger end of the market, though I still want one.
Moving beyond the two stand-out features this phone has 6.7-inch Full HD+ display 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 3,700mAh battery and an in-display fingeprint scanner. The battery can be charged via 25W fast charging though there is no wireless charging.
The rotating camera module contains the main 48MP (f/2.0) lens, 8MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide (123 degree) lens and a TOF sensor for distance data. With it flipping around, this is used for both rear and front facing, so it should be one of the best selfie cameras on the market
The Samsung Galaxy A80 release date is set for May 29, at least in some regions. Pricing and exact launch dates per region have not been announced.

Samsung Galaxy A70 With Snapdragon 675 SoC, Triple Rear Cameras

While the A80 has stolen the spotlight the A70 is still a great mid-range option featuring the Qualcomm chipset the Snapdragon 675 which is then paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 512GB via microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy A70 comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch called Infinity-U Display.
In the imaging department, the Galaxy A70 has a 32MP+8MP+5MP triple camera setup with LED flash. There is a 32MP camera on the front. The Galaxy A70 also has an In-display fingerprint sensor. A 4,500mAh battery with 25W Super FastCharging, which I wish had been included on the A80 too.
Samsung Galaxy A40 With Exynos 7885 Chipset
Last but not least is the lower end A40 which has a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ resolution. An Exynos 7885 octa-core (Dual 1.8GHz + Hexa 1.6 GHz) processor powers the phones with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has 16MP+5MP dual rear camera setup, wherein the second lens is an ultra-wide lens. There is a 25MP selfie camera on the front. A 3,100mAh battery completes the device.
