Realme GT launched in China – Is the Realme GT Pro held back for the global launch? Or maybe, so they don’t steal the thunder from the Find X3 Pro with its 125W charging? [Formerly Realme Race Pro]

Sharing is caring!

Normally in the world of phones launches, a brand will hype up a product with small reveals, while various sites, YouTubers and social media users leak specs they somehow acquire. By the time of launch, we often know everything about a phone.

At the end of January, Realme sent out a press release confirming Q1 launch dates for the Realme X9 Pro and Realme Race Pro as well as quite a detailed list of the specification.

These names have now been switched to Realme 8 Pro and Realme GT Pro (presumably).

Yesterday, Realme announced the Realme GT 5G (not pro) in China with the following specs:

Realme GT Price

The Realme GT has launched for an amazing price in China; though this won't translate so well if/when it lands in the UK, but it should still be very affordable.

The base price is ¥2,799 (£310/€360/$435) for 8GB and 128GB.

Realme GT vs Realme GT Pro Specification

The GT specs have some mid differences from the Race Pro specs previously supplied by Realme. Unless they have cancelled the phone, it seems like they may be holding off the launch, which will possibly happen as a global launch.

The Realme GT Pro has some significant differences that make it worth the wait:

A larger 6.8 inch display running at 3200×1440 with an incredibly 160Hz refresh rate.

The phone will then ditch the 2MP macro sensor in favour of 13MP with an undisclosed function, we can assume it is telephoto, though.

A larger battery, likely to drive that monster display, but then also 125W fast charging which would make it one of the fastest charging phones on the market.

In fact, it could be the 125W charging that is holding the phone back. This is based on the OPPO 125W flash charge, which has not been used on a phone yet. However, OPPO are launching their flagship Find X3 Pro on the 11th of March, and I doubt they would want Realme to launch a phone with 125W charging before them.

Realme GT Pro Launch Date

There is no word on this yet, but the Realme Race Pro was stated as launching in Q1 2021. So if this is still accurate, it should be in March.
