Huawei has had great success with its affordable sub-brand Honor, and therefore it is no surprise other companies are wanting to try and replicate this.
While Oppo is not a big name in the UK, and the sub-brand Realme is all but unheard of, there has been a growing interest in the company. The Oppo Find X made waves earlier in the year with its slide-out camera reminiscent of the Vivo Nex concept that allows them to have a large screen to body ratio without a notch.
Similar to Honor, Realme is more budget focussed and the brand has already released the Realme 1, Realme 2.
The new Pro model will launch today, the specifications are not confirmed but reliable leaks have come out indicating what will be announced later on.
Realme 2 Pro has appeared on Geekbench under the guise OPPO RX1807 of which indicated many of the specs. The Realme 2 Pro will carry a 6.2-inch HD+ display having an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 with a display notch.
It will likely have an IPS LCD display of similar to the Oppo F9 Pro with Full HD+ resolution. There will be a waterdrop notch on the top for the front camera and some other sensors. It will have more than 90% screen-to-body ratio without an on-screen fingerprint sensor.
The phone will arrive with dual rear cameras and a single front but the specification of these has not been revealed yet.
Realme 2 Pro will be a mid-level device having Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC onboard. There will be a 6GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage variant. It will come with Android 8.1 Oreo with its custom ColorOS ROM.
Pricing has not been confirmed yet, but the 32 GB and 64 GB Realme 2 variants cost just Rs. 8,990 (~$125) and Rs. 10,990 (~$152) in India so I would expect that UK buyers will be able to pick up the Pro model via Gearbest and other sites for around £200 making it a solid budget option
