I have recently written a few posts about USB and the fact that it is a bit of a confusing mess with the naming conventions and the cables you can get.
In my USB4 vs USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 vs USB 3.2 Gen 1 post, I highlighted the length limitations of passive cables for USB4 (0.8m), but with USB 3.2 Gen 2 that length is 9ft or 2.74m.
This is suitable for most people but if you want to go longer, you need to use an active cable.
For USB 3.2 Gen 2 2×2, and more modern USB4 or Thunderbolt cables, the limit for an active cable is 3M.
However, for USB 3.2 Gen 2 2×1, which runs at 10Gbps, you can extend this further.
Lindy Electronics has launched three new cables for anyone needing long USB-C data cables.
The first two are 3m and 5m USB 3.2 Gen 2 active cables.
Lindy 3m and 5m USB 3.2 Gen 2 active cables Key Features:
- 3m and 5m USB 3.2 Gen 2 Active Cable for video, audio and data

Then the third cable is a 10M Lindy USB 3.2 Gen 1 & DP 1.4 Type C Hybrid Cable.
