I am a big fan of mesh office chairs and find them far more preferable than gaming chairs.
I invested in a Herman Miller Mira around 20 years ago, and it is still going strong today, but you don’t need to spend that sort of money for a good quality mesh office chair.
I have previously reviewed the excellent Flexispot BS11 Pro, and a couple of years before that, the Flexi-Chair Oka Office Chair BS9.
The Flexispot BS14 is the latest and most expensive model from Flexispot, priced at £360 (currently, discounted). Looking at their range of chairs, this appears to be similar to the C7 AIR, which has an RRP of £360 as well, but is discounted to £260.
Flexispot Brand Month
At the time of writing, Flexispot is having a brand month between 9 May and 3 June, with many products receiving discounts. Between 26/05 and 03/06, there will be a sitewide 8% discount.
They also offer some significant discounts on products. For example, the E7 PRO desk had a limited 50% discount for the first 10 people, then £150 for the next 10, and currently £120 for the next 80.

Features

Designed for Healthier Sitting
The BS14 is built to support good posture throughout the day, whether you’re working, studying, or relaxing. It adapts to your body’s natural movement and offers tailored support to reduce strain on the lower back, neck, and arms. The design takes biomechanics into account, helping to reduce the discomfort often associated with extended sitting.
The chair aims to help users maintain an ergonomic, correct, and comfortable posture by adapting to the body’s natural movements, offering sufficient support based on biomechanics, and relieving lower back, neck, and upper limb pain.
Back Support That Moves With You
Recline Range: 98° – 125° with Lock and Tension Control
You can recline and lock the chair between 98 and 125 degrees, with a tension control that adjusts how easily the back tilts. This gives you flexibility to switch between upright work and a more relaxed posture without needing to readjust the entire setup.
The ability to recline in multiple positions is crucial for maintaining a healthy sitting posture. Sitting in one position for too long can lead to discomfort and strain, but the ability to tilt and recline allows you to shift your weight and relieve pressure on your spine throughout the day.
Lumbar Support with Independent Adjustment
The lumbar support moves up and down to match the curve of your spine. This targeted approach helps ease pressure on the lower back and encourages a more balanced seating position.
One of the standout features of the FlexiSpot BS14 is its height-adjustable lumbar support. This feature allows users to raise or lower the lumbar support to precisely match the curvature of their lower back. Proper lumbar support is essential for maintaining a healthy posture and preventing lower back pain, but many chairs only offer fixed support, which may not align with every user’s needs.
Dynamic Back Tracking
The chair back is designed to respond as you shift and move. It follows the movement of your body, maintaining support without feeling rigid, making it easier to stay comfortable for long periods.
The backrest has “Snug Back Tracking,” which moves slightly with your body as you shift positions, providing continuous support regardless of how you sit.
8° Forward Tilt on the Seat
You can tilt the seat forward to create a more open angle between your hips and torso. This position can help keep your spine upright and may reduce the tendency to slump. It also encourages light core engagement, which some users find helpful during long work sessions.
This forward seat tilt promotes an open hip angle. The tilted position helps to reduce pressure on your lower back and encourages a more natural and upright posture. Additionally, this function helps prevent slouching and alleviate discomfort associated with prolonged sitting by engaging core muscles and promoting spinal alignment.
Adjustable Headrest
The headrest offers both height and angle adjustments to suit different users. Made from a soft-touch material, it gently supports the neck without adding pressure. It’s a useful addition for those who want extra head and upper spine support, particularly during longer seated periods.
The headrest is both height- and angle-adjustable, offering good neck support. It’s covered in a comfortable, breathable mesh material like the backrest. Neck strain is a common complaint among office workers, particularly those who spend long hours looking at screens. An adjustable headrest can help alleviate this issue by providing proper support for the neck, reducing tension, and preventing discomfort.
Multi-Directional Armrests
The BS14’s armrests can be adjusted in multiple directions-up and down, forward and back, and side to side. This helps you position them to suit your individual needs, reducing stress on the shoulders and upper back no matter how you sit.
The multifunctional armrests adjust in height, depth, and angle, making it easy to find a comfortable position whether you’re typing, reading, or relaxing. They offer great support, but they are solid-some users might prefer softer, cushioned armrests. One drawback is that the armrests provide little resistance and can easily move out of position when you get up or sit down.
Seat Adjustability for a Custom Fit
Adjustable Seat Height
The seat height range allows you to position your legs at a natural angle, which helps with circulation and takes pressure off the lower back. It’s a key factor in maintaining a balanced sitting position.
Adjustable Seat Depth
The sliding seat depth makes the chair more accommodating for users of varying heights and leg lengths. It helps prevent circulation issues in the thighs and ensures your back remains supported without the front of the seat cutting into your legs.
Another feature that sets the BS14 apart from standard ergonomic chairs is its adjustable seat depth. Many chairs have a fixed seat depth, which can lead to discomfort if the seat is too deep or too shallow for the user. If the seat is too deep, it can press into the back of your knees, restricting circulation and causing discomfort. If the seat is too shallow, it won’t provide adequate support for your thighs, leading to muscle fatigue.
The BS14 allows you to adjust the seat depth to ensure that your thighs are fully supported while maintaining a small gap between the edge of the seat and the back of your knees. This not only improves comfort but also promotes better circulation, reducing the risk of swelling or discomfort during long periods of sitting.
Materials and Build Quality
Breathable Mesh
The mesh material across the back and headrest keeps airflow steady while offering consistent support. It’s firm without feeling rigid, and flexible enough to adjust to your back’s movement.
The BS14 features a breathable mesh backrest that promotes airflow, preventing you from overheating during long hours of sitting. Unlike chairs with solid backrests, mesh allows for better temperature regulation, which can enhance overall comfort, especially in warmer environments or during extended work sessions.
High-Density Foam Cushion
The seat uses dense foam shaped with a “waterfall” edge to ease pressure behind the knees. This improves comfort and may help with leg circulation during long stints at the desk.
The seat is padded with high-density foam, designed in a “waterfall” shape to relieve pressure on your legs and improve circulation.

Unboxing / Assembly

The BS14 arrives in a big box that is relatively heavy. It is disassembled like the vast majority of chairs bought online, and when you unbox it, it looks a bit intimidating to set up, but the overall assembly process is straightforward, taking around 20-30 minutes.
The instructions are OK but not great. It is basically some drawings showing you what to do with very little other detail, but I think most people should be able to work it out.
I assembled this by myself, and the only thing I struggled with a little was getting the backrest attached to the bass. I think most moderately fit people would be able to assemble this by themselves, but it would make it easier if there is a another person there.

Adjustability

The BS14 is one of the most adjustable chairs on the market, offering a comprehensive range of customisation options to suit different body types and preferences.
The chair’s adjustability extends beyond the standard height adjustment found in most office chairs. The lumbar support can be moved up or down to provide targeted support for your lower back, which is particularly beneficial for those who suffer from back pain or discomfort during long sitting sessions.
The backrest reclines from 98° to 125°, allowing you to switch between an upright position for focused work and a more relaxed angle for moments of rest. The tilt tension control lets you adjust how easily the chair reclines, so you can find the perfect balance between support and flexibility.
The 8° forward seat tilt is a standout feature that encourages a more upright posture by tilting the seat slightly forward. This position helps reduce pressure on your lower back and engages your core muscles, which can be beneficial for those who tend to slouch.
The armrests are multifunctional, adjusting in height, depth, and angle to provide optimal support for your arms and shoulders. However, some users have noted that they can move out of position too easily, which might be frustrating for those who frequently adjust their sitting position.
The headrest is both height and angle-adjustable, offering good neck support for those who spend long hours at their desk. It’s covered in the same breathable mesh material as the backrest, ensuring consistent comfort and ventilation.
The seat depth is also adjustable, catering to different leg lengths and sitting preferences. This feature is particularly useful for taller individuals who might find standard seat depths uncomfortable or inadequate.
Overall, I’d say the Hinomi H1 Pro was better for adjustments and had the benefit of a leg rest, plus it could fold in half, allowing you to store it under your table. However, that has an RRP of £900 and is currently £449. Considering the price of the BS14, the level of adjustability is impressive.
Comfort / All-day office use

One of the issues with the level of adjustments this chair has was that I found it took quite a while to get it set up the way I find comfortable. I am part of the problem due to the terrible way I sit in chairs, as I tend to slouch quite far back. I always find all the adjustments on chairs a bit confusing to work out at first and I found that I needed to look at the website to work this out.
Similar to the Hinomi, I found the lumbar support felt very aggressive, to the point of being uncomfortable. However, this can be adjusted up and down, and reducing it to the lowest height resolved this issue.
Once properly adjusted to your body, the BS14 delivers a comfortable and supportive seating experience for all-day use. The breathable mesh backrest keeps you cool, even during long hours of sitting, while the high-density foam seat provides adequate cushioning without feeling too soft or too firm.
The chair’s ergonomic design promotes good posture, reducing the strain on your back, neck, and shoulders.

The recline function allows you to change your position throughout the day, which can help reduce fatigue and maintain comfort. The tilt tension control lets you adjust how easily the chair reclines, so you can find the perfect balance between support and flexibility.
The 8° forward seat tilt is a useful feature for those who prefer a more active sitting position. By tilting the seat slightly forward, it encourages a more upright posture and engages your core muscles, which can help reduce the tendency to slouch.
The armrests provide good support for your arms and shoulders, reducing strain during typing or other desk activities. I found the height adjustments particularly useful. The cheap office chair I was provided in my new office lacked any adjustment on the arms, and I couldn’t get the chair positioned the way I like it, close to the desk.
The headrest offers good support for your neck and head, which can be particularly beneficial during moments of relaxation or when leaning back to think. It’s covered in the same breathable mesh material as the backrest, ensuring consistent comfort and ventilation.
The seat depth adjustment allows you to find the perfect position for your legs, ensuring that your thighs are fully supported without putting pressure on the back of your knees. This can help improve circulation and reduce discomfort during long sitting sessions.
While the chair is generally comfortable for all-day use, some users might find the seat a bit firm, especially if they’re used to softer, more cushioned chairs. I also personally prefer a mesh seat, similar to the Flexispot BS11 Pro, Hinomi, or my Herman Miller Mira I used at home.
The build quality feels solid, supporting up to 136kg, and the five-star base with caster wheels moves smoothly across different surfaces. This makes it easy to move around your workspace without having to get up, which can be convenient during busy workdays.
Price and Alternative Options
The Flexispot BS14 has an RRP of £360 and at the time of writing, it did not have any discounts applied.
The Flexispot Brand Day Campaign runs from May 8-20, 2025 and this chair will hopefully receive a discount.
Price high to low at the time of writing (7th of May), Flexispot has:
- BS11 PRO – RRP £400 – Discount to £280
- BS12 PRO – RRP £400 – Discount to £260
- C7 AIR – RRP £260 – Discount to £260
- BS8 – RRP £300 – Discounted to £180
The Hinomi H1 Pro had an RRP of £900, which I thought was too expensive, but you can currently get it for just £463 from Amazon, and at that price, I think it is superb. It is also available directly from Hinomi for £449 if you opt for the green, red or gaming colours and £499for black or grey.
The Herman Miller Mirra 2 Triflex Office Chair has an RRP of £1072 but is available for £804.
You can get the Herman Miller Verus Triflex for just £450.
When comparing the BS14 to other chairs in its price range, it offers competitive features and adjustability. However, it’s worth noting that some users have reported issues with the quality of certain components, such as the armrests and mesh material. These concerns should be weighed against the chair’s relatively affordable price point compared to premium ergonomic chairs from brands like Herman Miller or Steelcase.
It’s also worth considering that Flexispot frequently offers discounts on their products, so it might be worth waiting for a sale if you’re interested in purchasing the BS14. Based on the pricing patterns of their other models, it’s likely that the BS14 will eventually receive a significant discount.
Overall
The Flexispot BS14 Ergonomic Office Chair is an excellent office chair with extensive levels of adjustment, making it well suited for office use where you may be sitting at your desk 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
While many companies will be reluctant to spend this kind of money on an office chair, I regard things link this as a good investment if you are spending so much time sat down.
The chair’s ergonomic design promotes good posture, reducing the strain on your back, neck, and shoulders during extended sitting sessions. The adjustable lumbar support, recline function, and forward seat tilt allow you to find the perfect position for your body, while the breathable mesh backrest keeps you cool and comfortable throughout the day.
The build quality feels solid, with a sturdy five-star base and smooth-rolling caster wheels that move easily across different surfaces. The chair supports up to 136kg, making it suitable for a wide range of users.
The main caveat for this chair, Flexispot in general and many similar brands, is that it is hard to recommend buying this at full RRP when it will inevitably receive a deep discount sooner or later. Looking at the prices above, you have the £400 BS11 Pro and BS12 Pro discounted to £280 and £260 respectively.
Overall, the Flexispot BS14 is excellent and is good value for money when you compare it to premium ergonomic chairs from brands like Herman Miller or Steelcase. It provides a comfortable and supportive seating experience for all-day use, with a level of adjustability that’s impressive at this price point.
If you’re in the market for an ergonomic office chair that won’t break the bank, the Flexispot BS14 is definitely worth considering. Just be sure to wait for a sale if possible, as Flexispot frequently offers significant discounts on their products.
