Samsung Galaxy S10 specification, benchmarks & prices revealed

We are less than 2 weeks away from the Galaxy S10 series launch and as usual, this will likely be one of if not the best selling flagship phones of the year.

As usual with phones nowadays there have been plenty of rumours and leaks, and closer to launch the more accurate they get.

Samsung has been behind the curve with the notch trend, instead, they have developed their own punch hole design or Infinity-O as they call it. It is worth noting that unlike other companies they are able to use the punch hole design with AMOLED panels rather than just IPS.

We know for certain that it will feature the Exynos 9820 chipset (at least in certain markets). The chip scores 10,387 points in multi-core and 4,472 points in GeekBench’s single-core tests based on the most recent leaks though some earlier leaks were less positive. This puts the phone slightly behind the iPhone XS Max with its A12 chipset.

The FCC filing for the S10 reveals that the phone will feature WiFi 6 and reverse wireless charging. The Mate 20 Pro was the first device to feature reverse wireless so Samsung may be feeling the heat a little from Huawei and playing catch-up. Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax is supported by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and it makes sense for flagship phones this year to adopt the new standard. WiFi 6 will allow the gadgets to support data rates of up to 10Gbps, operate on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies and improve battery life.

The phones will also feature ultrasonic fingerprint recognition which offers superior in-display recognition over other companies.

Samsung will be launching three models during its February 20 Unpacked event. The Galaxy S10E will be the cheapest, followed by the Galaxy S10 and then the Galaxy S10 Plus. There’s also going to be a 5G-ready variant featuring a mammoth 6.7-inch display and a 5000mAh battery, but it is going to be launched in limited markets such as the U.S. and Korea.

The best possible specifications will reportedly be found in the Galaxy S10 Plus, which is rumoured to feature 12GB of RAM and up to a whopping 1TB of internal storage.

In terms of pricing, it is going to be expensive, and very expensive dependant on the model.

It has been reported that the range will start out at over £650 for the entry-level Galaxy S10E this will have will allegedly have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory and it will be available in the colours Prism Black, Canary Yellow, white, and green.

The standard S10 will be around £790 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB and a 6.1-inch display. Other configurations available too.

The Galaxy S10 Plus will be available in three memory configurations. A 6GB RAM + 128GB memory model that would set you back £875, an 8GB RAM + 512GB variant that would cost €1095. Finally, the top-end model bearing a whopping 12GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage would set you back by £1310.
