Huawei has had the EMUI 10 available on Beta for several devices for a while now, last week it was reported that the stable version was being rolled out in China including the Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Pro, HONOR 20, HONOR 20 Pro, HONOR V20 and HONOR Magic 2. This would be followed in late November with the Mate series.

I had expected that the EU & UK rollout would take a little longer but Huawei appears to be doing a gradual rollout for us as well.

For the P30 and P30 Pr the update package, size is 4.47GB and it begs the version number EMUI 10.0.0.168.

The Mate 20 series is also getting some EMUI 10 / Android 10 love and the firmware number this gets is 10.0.0.154 running at 4.50GB.

If you haven’t yet got the latest EMUI 10 update, you can check it by heading to Settings > System > Software update > Check for Updates.  Some users have reported that they were able to get the update via the HiCare app then checking the update from there.

The reported P30 upgrade comes from a UK language phone, while the Huawei Mate 20 is in German. If you can’t get the update just yet, you can try and experiment with checking for updates while connected to a VPN in a different country. I know people have had success when connecting to Germany and TunnelBear is an option for this which is free and has EU servers, though once the download starts you may need to disconnect as the allowance is not big enough for nearly 5GB.

EMUI 10 brings all the features of Android 10 plus many features added by Huawei including Desktop Mode with seamless cooperation between PC and mobile phone, Magzine Layout, Ark Complier, and revamped icon pack. This will also enable the new dark mode everyone is so obsessed about nowadays.
