Technaxx TX-252 Foldable 60W Solar Camping Table Review

I have previously reviewed the excellent Technaxx 21W foldable solar charging case and wrote about the impressive sounding 400W TX-250 solar table power plant.

Recently, Technaxx expanded the product range with two solar camping tables, a 20W table and the 60W TX-252 table, which I am reviewing today.

Unboxing / Assembly

The table consists of two parts: the solar table top and the collapsible frame.

Considering the 60W output, I was surprised at how large the table is, but the surface area is probably smaller than some of the 100W panels out there, it just seems quite big overall for 60W output.

When it arrived in two parts, I was initially concerned that it would be difficult to unpack and assemble (then pack up).

I thought assembling the frame would be more work, but the legs and frame are all connected, and you just unfold it and then slot in the four legs and two cross beams. The solar panel also slots into the groves of the frame.

Overall, it took less than five minutes to assemble.

On the underside of the solar panel is a small box with output ports, which have two USB-A ports and a USB-C port. It then has a DC5521 port and an included cable with XT60/DC7909/MC4/Anderson connections. This should be adequate to connect to most portable power stations, or you can charge phones and power banks using the USB ports.

Performance

I got lucky with a weekend of sun for this review, so I paired the table with EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max, which I was able to connect with the XT60 cable.

I plugged in my EcoFlow power station at 8:30 a.m., which had a 17% battery. With partially obstructed light, the panel provided 12W of power to my EcoFlow.

Sporadically checking on the input power, the highest I saw was 35w, which I think is decent considering I live up north and my back garden where the table was located is easterly facing with limited sunlight.

When I brought it in at 6:30 pm, EcoFlow had charged 64%.

Price and Alternative Options

The Technaxx TX-252 has an RRP of €179 (£154). Amazon UK has this listed at a reasonable price of £135.

The smaller 20W TX-251 is €99, or the massive 400W TX-250 solar table power plant is €951.

Surprisingly, this is not the only brand that produces solar camping tables, but it appears to be the best option if you want something relatively small and lightweight.

The 300W Airshi Folding Solar Table is a good option if you want something larger and with a higher output. It costs £250 and appears much bulkier due to the legs and table’s aluminium body. It has a total weight of 5.2kg.

Gosun has a 60W table with a similar aluminium design as the Airshi, which is priced at $179.

You could of course, just pick up a cheap solar panel and use that either on a table or use a prop up portable solar panel.

All Powers has a 100W flexible solar panel for £110 or a 100W portable solar panel for £130.

Overall

The Technaxx TX-252 is a good investment for anyone who camps or spends a lot of time off the grid. The 60W output isn’t going to power all your electronics, but it is good enough to keep phones charged or extend the life of portable power stations.

You get better value for money with portable solar panels, which cost around the same but with a higher 100W output, but the camping table design is incredibly convenient.

I don’t personally camp that much, but a family friend has been using this extensively on his canal boat on sunny days, and it is a perfect addition for that scenario.
