The HF1+ is the latest launch from Hoover and is their most affordable option.
I have previously reviewed all the other models, including the Hoover HFX, HF9, HF4, and HF2.
While the performance of this is less impressive than that of the more expensive models, the main selling point here is that it is one of the most affordable cordless vacuums on the market from a reputable brand.

Unboxing
I have worked my way through most of the current Hoover product lineup, going from the top-of-the-range HFX down to this. As you’d expect, the HF1 doesn’t compete with the more expensive models but it has all the important features.
As well as the main vacuum cleaner, you get a crevice tool, and the Pets model gets a smaller head for removing dog and cat hairs from surfaces.
Like most stick vacuums, you can reduce this down to a handheld vacuum by removing the extension pole.
The Hover itself is basic but functional and light. It weighs a bit more and has a lower capacity than the HF2, which costs £50 more.
This still uses the anti-twist roller technology as seen on other models, and I have found it to be better than average than competing models for not getting tangled up with my partner’s hair.
Cleaning Performance
The cleaning performance of the Hoover HF1+ is good for a vacuum at this price point. It is never going to compete with the HF9, HFX or other brands like the Gtech AirRAM 3, but the performance is good enough for smaller homes or less demanding homes. If you live in a flat by yourself, this will likely be perfectly adequate.
As I have multiple robot vacuums, I find myself using this frequently in my kitchen to keep on top of the general dust and debris that builds up during the day when cooking and eating, and it works very well on hard floors.
For carpets, the performance is good, but you need realistic expectations. It will likely struggle to do a thorough clean for thick carpets that are infrequently cleaned. But for thinner carpets and regular daily cleaning, this performs well.
I have used this for a few weeks, and there hasn’t been too much build-up of hair thanks to the anti-twist roller. I find that my robot vacuums quickly end up with ruined rollers due to the amount my partner sheds, so this anti-twist roller is a strong point for Hoover.
Battery Life
The Hoover HF1+ is rated for 45 mins in eco mode, 30 mins in standard and 12 mins with turbo. I find the eco mode is poor on any cordless vacuum, so I generally stick to standard or turbo.
I haven’t timed the performance, but I’d estimate that the 12 mins and 30 mins are approximately correct, perhaps closer to 10 and 25 mins.
Price and Alternative Options
The Hoover HF1+ has an RRP of £120 for the standard model, which is discounted to £120 during the Black Friday period.
The Pet model I have reviewed is £139 RRP but discounted to £99 during Black Friday.
There are not many branded options available for the £100 price point.
Gtech has the HyLite 2 for just £80 but this only has a 20 min run time and 0.3l capacity.
There is the Beko ErgoClean Pro ActiFlex for £90 which has a 45 min run time, 06L capacity, and a 25.2v motor weighing 2.4kg.
Black and Decker sells the PowerSeries+ BHFEA18D1-GB for £100. It has a 40-minute run time, an 18V motor, a 0.5l capacity, and a weight of 2.8kg.
Overall
The Hoover HF1+ Pet is a decent, affordable cordless vacuum cleaner.
It represents good value for money compared to other models at this price, but you also need realistic expectations. There are fewer accessories, and it is less powerful than the other Hoover models, so I would say this is best suited for smaller homes or less demanding environments. If you have a robot vacuum, I’d say this is a handy vacuum to have for spot cleaning and on-demand use.
Overall, if you are on a budget and/or live in a smaller home then the Hoover HF1+ is an easy recommendation due to the very competitive pricing.
