At CES 2024, Acer has announced refreshed models of its Predator Helios gaming laptop lineup, as well as two new additions – the Predator Helios Neo 18 and Helios Neo 16. The new devices offer cutting-edge specifications and the latest technology to deliver an exceptional gaming experience.
New Predator H elios Laptops Pack Powerful Hardware

The headline products are the Predator Helios 18 and Predator Helios 16 gaming laptops. Both machines can be configured with up to an Intel Core i9-13905HX processor, which features the chipmaker’s new performance hybrid architecture to optimize efficiency alongside raw power. GPU duties are handled by up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, which utilizes the recently announced Ada Lovelace architecture to enable advanced graphics features powered by AI and real-time ray tracing.
Several cooling technologies work in tandem to ensure consistent high performance during intensive gaming sessions. These include dual 5th generation AeroBlade 3D fans, liquid metal thermal grease application on the CPU, and heat pipes.

Impressive Display and Audio
Users can choose between 16-inch or 18-inch display options, with cutting-edge Mini LED and extremely high refresh rate panels available. The top configurations allow the Predator Helios laptops to drive up to 1000 nits peak brightness alongside vivid colours covering 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, making games look more realistic than ever before. Immersive DTS:X Ultra surround sound complements the visuals.
Latest Connectivity and Customization
The new Predator Helios laptops offer Wi-Fi 7 compatibility for lightning-fast wireless networking speeds. Plentiful I/O options include a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports and a microSD card reader. Gamers can customize keyboard backlighting effects and per-key RGB lighting using the PredatorSense software.
More Affordable Predator Helios Neo Variants

Alongside the flagship Predator Helios updates, Acer has taken the wraps off the Predator Helios Neo 18 and Predator Helios Neo 16. Offering excellent value, these laptops still deliver speedy performance from 14th Gen Intel Core i9 processors and up to RTX 4070 graphics.
The Helios Neo range has a distinctive design, with a sleek black anodized metal chassis and encrypted messages laser etched onto the covers. Deciphering these codes allows users to uncover details about the mysterious ‘Predatorverse’. Despite the lower cost, both Neo laptops include many of the same gaming-focused features and technologies as the premium Helios family.
Release Date and Pricing
The launch timing and pricing details differ across regions. In the US, the Predator Helios 16 will be first to arrive in January 2024, starting from $1899. Next is the Helios Neo 16 in March from $1499, alongside the Helios Neo 18 from $1549. The range-topping Predator Helios 18 comes in March too, for at least $1999.
UK buyers will be able to get their hands on the Predator Helios 16 or Helios Neo 16 first in March, tagged at £3799 and £1699 respectively. Acer is yet to confirm availability specifics for the Helios 18 or Helios Neo 18 in the UK.
Overall, while not cheap, the strong gaming performance on offer makes the asking prices reasonable and competitive versus alternatives on the market. As ever, interested consumers should closely compare specifications before purchase, as memory, storage, display, and other configuration options significantly impact the final cost.
