Quad cameras are so last week, Xiaomi is now upping the ante once again with the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro taking phone cameras to a new level of crazy, but how far can this trend go?
The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro has been rumoured for the past month or so, but now an official promo image has been posted on Weibo confirming its existence, key features and launch date.
The image also reveals the Mi CC9 Pro will have a total of five cameras, lined up vertically. The setup also shows two dual-LED flashes next to a sign, saying “5X Optical”, giving heads up about the telephoto camera.
The CC9 Pro will also have a 108MP primary camera with a 5x optical zoom option. The other device that will launch alongside the CC9 Pro includes the Mi TV 5, Mi Watch.
The Mi CC9 Pro comes with a model number M1910M4E and is expected to arrive with a Snapdragon 730G processor rather than than the flagship Snapdragon 855+. It will also have 30W fast charging
While this is not the first phone to feature a 108MP, the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is no a mainstream device and comes with a huge price tag, so this will be the first phone that consumers are likely to actually buy.
It will be interesting to see how good such a large resolution camera is, from my experience, there was not a massive difference between 48MP and 64MP of the Realme 5 Pro and the Realme X2. Similarily the Google Pixel 4 still uses 12.2MP but can achieve far superior shots than many phones with a bigger pixel count.
