In a surprise announcement, Microsoft has officially revealed the next-generation Xbox, the Series X.
Microsoft appears to be started a new trend of announcing devices a whole year before their launch, but at least, in this case, it won’t be outdated by launch, unlike the Surface Neo and Surface Duo.
The new console ditches the traditional design and adopts something that looks remarkably like a small form factor PC,
Microsoft is promising big things with the new Xbox Series X, claiming performance numbers that most PC gamers dream about.
This includes gaming at 4K with 60FPS and the possibility of 120FPS, including support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and 8K capability.
All this will be possible thanks to the new AMD Zen 2 processor and the Xbox Series X GPU which will offer ray tracing and Variable Rate Shading (VRS).
They claim load times will be virtually eliminated with a next-generation SSD and latency will be minimised with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and giving developers new functionality like Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) to make Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever.
As for games, the new console will be backwards compatible giving you access to thousands of games from launch. 15 Xbox Game Studios are building a huge next-generation library that includes Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga. Halo Infinite has also been confirmed to be an Xbox Series X launch title.
While they don’t reveal any hard specs lets look how the new Series X compares to the Xbox One X based on what is expected.
