I reviewed the XGS1210-12 in August last year, at the time the unmanaged (XGS1010)option was the most affordable way of adding multi-gig Ethernet to your home with its two 2.5GbE ports.
The web-managed (not Nebula cloud-managed) Zyxel XGS1250-12 ups the specification considerably.
Keeping the same number of ports overall, and the same either gigabit ports, the new XGS1250-12 upgrades the multi-gig options.
It ditches one of the 10G SFP+ ports offer three multi-gig Ethernet option. Two of which are full fat 10G with the third being 5G.
Currently, the unmanaged XGS1010 is around £180 on Amazon with the managed XGS1210 not being much more at £189.90.
With the Zyxel XGS1250-12 being very new, there is not widespread availability or confirmed prices. The best I can find is 258.94-Euros or around £225. Not exactly cheap but I’d happily pay the extra for proper 10GbE vs the XGS1210.
At £225 this is still one of, if not the, cheapest 10GbE switches on the market. The only other I can think of is the Netgear GS110EMX with just two 10GbE ports at £208
