Anker Innovations’ premium audio brand Soundcore has introduced the Soundcore Sleep A20, the second generation of its sleep-focused earbuds, following the successful launch of the Sleep A10 in 2022. The new Sleep A20 earbuds promise to deliver enhanced noise masking capabilities, improved comfort, and longer battery life, aiming to provide users with a peaceful and undisturbed sleep experience.
Advanced Noise Masking and Comfort
The Sleep A20 earbuds feature Soundcore’s Twin-Seal eartips, which offer three times better noise rejection compared to single-layer eartips. This design helps block out external noises, including snoring partners, garbage trucks, and other common nighttime disturbances, ensuring a quieter sleeping environment.
Comfort has been a key focus in the development of the Sleep A20. The earbuds feature an ergonomic curved shape that conforms to the user’s ears, allowing for a pressure-free wearing experience, even for side-sleepers. Additionally, the earbuds are covered in an ultra-soft silicone material, ensuring maximum comfort throughout the night.
Extended Battery Life and Connectivity
With 14 hours of playtime in Sleep mode and an additional 80 hours provided by the charging case, the Sleep A20 earbuds offer extended battery life for uninterrupted sleep sessions. When connected via Bluetooth, the earbuds provide up to 10 hours of playtime, with an additional 55 hours in the charging case (at 50% volume).
Users can doze off while listening to their favorite music or podcasts from apps like Spotify or YouTube Music, streamed from their mobile devices.
Improved Features and Sleep Tracking
Building upon the success of the Sleep A10, the new Sleep A20 earbuds introduce a repeatable alarm feature, allowing users to wake up to customizable sounds without disturbing others nearby.
The Sleep A20 also offers automatic sleep monitoring with sleep position tracking, accessible through the Soundcore app (available for Android and iOS). In case the earbuds fall out during the night, users can locate them using an audible alert through the app.
Availability and Pricing
The Soundcore Sleep A20 earbuds will be available for pre-purchase via Kickstarter in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand starting April 16, with discounts of up to 40% for early backers. Early bird specials and perks are also available on Soundcore.com.
The Sleep A20 earbuds are expected to be available for purchase on Amazon.com and Soundcore in mid-to-late May, priced at $149.99 in the US, £119.99 in the UK, and €149.99 in Germany.
Comparison with Sleep A10
In my previous review of the Soundcore Sleep A10 earbuds, I found them to be a compelling solution for those struggling with nighttime noise disturbances. The Sleep A10 offered decent noise masking capabilities, a comfortable fit, and a user-friendly app experience.
However, the Sleep A20 promises to address some of the limitations of its predecessor. The improved noise masking performance, thanks to the Twin-Seal eartips, should provide better noise isolation, especially for those dealing with loud snoring partners or external noises.
The extended battery life and the addition of sleep position tracking are also notable upgrades, catering to the needs of users who require all-night comfort and uninterrupted sleep monitoring.
While the Sleep A10 was a solid entry into the sleep earbuds market, the Sleep A20 appears to be a more refined and feature-rich offering, addressing common pain points and user feedback from the previous generation.
